Butler’s Cabin 14/1 to 8/1 in the last 3 days..the money’s down, weights right distance is right just need to hope the head is right

Bet of the season or hope without reason?
April 10, 2008 at 07:27 #157217Weight looks right as long as Halcon Genelardais and Racing Demon line up. Wouldn’t fancy either to run at this stage though??
April 10, 2008 at 08:05 #157219As far as i know, Halcon Genelardais will be running off top weight in the race.
April 10, 2008 at 08:09 #157220Would you have any idea as to why Halcon Genelardais is taking his shot at Sandown rather than at Ayr, Gaz?
April 10, 2008 at 08:22 #157223I believe an extra bit of time for the horse to prepare and a slightly shorter trip have helped with the decision.
April 10, 2008 at 08:35 #157227Thanks Gaz.
April 10, 2008 at 08:45 #157230Will Halcon Genelardais run if the ground is quick?
April 10, 2008 at 09:02 #157231The Hen says in todays Post the race is the target for Racing Demon ground permitting.
April 14, 2008 at 15:39 #157763Halcon runs at Ayr.
Royal County Star must take a lot of beating here now if the ground is decent.April 14, 2008 at 22:15 #157812Cannot fathom why Hen would run him over 3m5f when the 2m race could be a better alternative as he is not likely to stay the trip.
Surprized that Punchestown has not been thought of or even a race at the Perth festival.
April 15, 2008 at 09:55 #157857Agreed, Neil.
I’m pretty sure the class 2 3m chase during the Perth Festival doesn’t have a ratings ceiling – certainly in the past the likes of Unguided Missile, Docklands Express and It Takes Time have all been able to contest it.
He can see out that trip in Championship class races around Kempton alright, so it makes perfect sense to me to target that very nice prize around an even sharper clockwise track and against largely weaker opposition.
Show some imagination, Hen – if Perth is appealing enough for Nigel Twiston-Davies to farm races at year in, year out, then it can be for you, too.

All those years with Best Mate and she moaned about lack of opportunities to run him and never thought about the Charlie Hall at Wetherby.
I bet that if Kempton or Exeter put a race on she would be their like a shot
April 16, 2008 at 09:58 #158062More fool her, Neil.
Enterprise, and finding the right openings for the right horses, help keep owners happy. Perth’s a terrific, friendly course, and the prizemoney at both the Festival and the Perth Gold Cup meetings is far from dreadful. I’ve not heard of too many owners complaining that the hospitality afforded them falls short of expectations, either.

April 16, 2008 at 16:40 #158116Couldn’t agree with you more Jeremy. I would put Perth up there with the best courses in the UK. The facilities may be very average but you will never come across a more friendly bunch of racing people.
Scone is just a lovely part of the world where It’s even traditional for jockeys slow down on the far side to get a good look at the salmon leaping in the river

The course is famed for their greasy mince pies which go down real well with a few beers and the bar staff were always great when I attended.
The seriously are a great bunch of real racing people who love their racing and as you say, the hospitality is 1st class.
April 16, 2008 at 17:42 #158131GC,
I can confirm that the 3M chase on Thursday 24th at Perth has no upper rating limit and it’s worth £35,000 this year. Current going is good to soft, so no problem on that score either.
Are you going this year?

April 16, 2008 at 18:14 #158138Friend of mine is doing Perth on Wednesday, I think all Scottish courses have that welcome factor which English courses dont seem to have
April 16, 2008 at 18:22 #158139Yep. Kelso reminds me of how Uttoxeter used to be only with better racing…good fun and very friendly.
