Pros of last Saturday’s meeting:-
Racegoers got to see top figures from both the flat and NH
Parade of this season’s top NH horses
Decent racing
After racing pop concert featuring something called "The Saw Doctors"Cons:-
Some races were a legacy of when the Cheltenham festival was cancelled due to foot and mouth and got substandard winners
Admission at £25 (grandstand) or £40 (premier- whatever that is) is hardly cheap even by London outer suburb standards
Grandstand affords a good view but last time I went (admittedly about a year ago) needed a lick of paint and resembled an airport terminal with a cavernous inside selling tat and the usual expensive sandwiches.
Top jockeys don’t like travelling to meetings for 1 or 2 rides
Clerks of the Course and groundsmen find mixed meetings expensive to put onApril 29, 2008 at 11:34 #160567Lingfield
I would agree with most of those "cons". Wouldnt recommend the Premier enclosure to anyone at those prices (although thats less than premiership football), simply because (unlike Wetherby say) its barely any better than the Grandstand
And is it really beyond their budget to have decent flat screen TV’s for coverage from elsewhere?
and those awful jumble sale pitchs ….
