Charlie Hills filly had to be put down after breaking her pelvis in the Cheveley Park stakes today.
The daughter of Exceed and Excel was boxed off so I hoped they were going to be able to save her but sadly not.
That is such a shame, I was really hoping they’d be able to save her. Such a talent. RIP
I wasn’t watching that race but overheard the commentary which said it didn’t look good for her. RIP Sajwah
Does anyone else think they are now breeding horses far too lightweight, to make speed the priority? They seem so fragile, as must be proved by such a devastating injury sustained whilst running on the flat. Or did she slip? I don’t know, but something is not right. Look at the number of horses recently, supposedly "well bred", which have sustained leg fractures, apparently spontaneously. I know there’s been a lot of firm going this summer but this is getting silly. Something’s wrong.
