Saint Des Saints
During the course of his career as a stallion of UK and Irish runners Saint Des Saints’ record is imperious.
A total of 2089 runners in 2024 races.
He has sired 345 winners and a further 494 placed horses. That’s a win percentage of 16.5% and a win and place percentage of a huge 40.2%. Trust me, for an entire progeny that win & place figure is remarkable.
If you dig a little deeper and look at his record in all Graded races in GB and IRE you’d expect, given the quality of the races, his figures to diminish quite markedly but they don’t.
402 have contested 377 races resulting in 62 wins and a further 100 being placed. That’s a slightly reduced win percentage of 15.6% but a slightly higher win and place figure of 40.3%.
Good stallions don’t necessarily become equally good broodmare stallions but with Saint Des Saints he most definitely is. In fact he is building an even better record as a dam stallion, it’s crazy good.
His record in all GB and IRE races is 882 runners in 856 races. There have been 191 winners at a rate of 21.7% with a further 163 placed giving and win and place figure of 40.1%.
That’s not the mind blowing bit. Looking at all Graded races his record is thus,
133 runners
49 winners at a strike rate of 36.8%
16 placed giving a win and place figure of 48.9%These are incredible numbers for a dam stallion. When they are good, they are very, very good.
