It’s not very "Hong Kong" to go against convention and keep a horse in training around June/July.
I know it’s tempting, but I would’ve imagined Ricky Yiu Poon-fie not taking SK’s resurrection of form for granted, and spelling him to focus on the CX Hong Kong Sprint.
May 20, 2009 at 13:09 #228925It would be great if they showed up with Sacred Kingdom, but every year we seem to have these HK "wonderhorses" duck the challenge of Royal Ascot.
Only Cape Of Good Hope has run (and indeed won) over here – and wasn’t his trainer English?
May 20, 2009 at 13:40 #228934I’m betting the Ascot sprints will involve the same old faces you’d get in a Group 2 or 3- the foreigners are dropping out daily.
May 20, 2009 at 16:36 #228991Thanks for the link Wit. I’ve been on to this since I left Singapore – we’ll have to see how things pan out.
Takeover Target arrives in Newmarket, from Singapore, on Saturday and Scenic Blast comes in from Western Australia on Thursday 28th.

May 25, 2009 at 17:13 #230030Thats fantastic news!
The Jubilee is really hotting up now
May 25, 2009 at 18:45 #230053Are the australians on appearance money this year and how much of the supplementary fee will connections have to cough up in real terms?
May 25, 2009 at 20:09 #230063The Hong Kong horse is not getting any help with the supplementary costs.
Luckily the owner is sporting and of course they have won a lot of money with him already.

Fair play to them then and I hope he runs a cracker for them.
May 27, 2009 at 13:33 #230426spare a thought for HK punters, who at the moment won’t be able to see or bet him via the HKJC due to government simulcast restrictions:
June 4, 2009 at 11:09 #231873more evidence of how Adrian makes a difference, since you’ll not hear it from the man himself:
==========================
"With the help of Adrian Beaumont and the International Racing Bureau, we’ve arranged for Sacred Kingdom to be stabled at Manton, just outside Marlborough in Wiltshire," Player said.

June 4, 2009 at 16:58 #231956Superb stuff from Adrian. If SK is back to his best he should burn them off including JJ the Jet Plane for whom I have a lot of respect. European so called sprinters are much of nothing. Wesley Ward’s Cannonball is an intriguing participant at the projected prices.

Yes we hear the same thing every year but the Golden Jubilee has been won by European (British) sprinters for the last three years.
June 12, 2009 at 03:18 #233463horse seems to have travelled well:
http://racing.scmp.com/freeservice/news … 90612a.asp
but i had to read this bit twice:
============
Where he is staying at Manton, they don’t have any facilities for weighing the horse but just from the way he looks in the pictures and the video, I would estimate he has lost only about 10 pounds in body weight on the trip…
============is that for real ?
a modern facility like manton is not able to weigh horses ?
June 12, 2009 at 13:39 #233506For quarantine reasons he is stabled in an isolation unit well away from the main yards at Manton.
The Aussie horses weigh regularly up here in Newmarket.
June 12, 2009 at 15:43 #233525is that a voluntary quarantine ?
its just the HK press has said that there are no quarantine concerns from HK to UK, so that once he had completed quarantine in HK after his Singapore trip he was free to mix ?
