Was fairly happy with A Plus Tard today, not absolutely blown away, but happy to have a small early bet at 25’s.

I’ll have a lot more on if he shows more next run, and ideally with NRNB attached.

I’ve always been a huge fan of Douvan and he’s due to run today at Clonmel. Any type of decent performance and the 33/1 for the Ryanair will be a distant memory so I’m getting in while the getting is good. The Ryanair distance seems ideal to me and if he’s properly back and wins well he’ll drop to single figures imo.

Douvan to win the Ryanair @ 33/1

Some pretty dodgy jumping from Douvan but the engine is still definitely there. Will surely only get better between now and March as long as no injuries.

Good call, Andy. Took the 33’s. 7/1 now. I thought he settled alright but Townened said he was keen. Think they’ll be very pleased with that.

Brilliant call Andy, best of luck with that one.

I re watched some runs this weekend and had a little look at this one, I think A PLUS TARD at 20/1 right now is the one!

Interesting, not sure he’s up to the level of the likes of Min, Douvan, Defi, Footpad or Frodon. I suppose at 20s that’s a fair price? I’d expect him to need to improve a heck of a lot though.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!

Id have him to tuck them all apart from MIN and DEFI. Having said that, It depends what Min turns up and Defi may go to Champ chase so ill be getting stuck into that 20s

Douvan might not even show up as he’s fragile so i suppose that needs factored in, but then again, I’d say A Plus Tard needs quite a specific set of conditions to run to his best anyway. Decent price anyway!

I just hope that A Plus Tard gets those conditions Jack, but this looks a tough one to call at this stage, which is usually the case.

It’s hard to see where APT will get his conditions in Ireland before Cheltenham unless he come over to the UK before. Trainer has said he is a 20 lb better horse going left handed so maybe he sticks to running at 2 miles in Ireland.

Form is looking pretty solid with Hardline running well at the weekend though. Like Jack said he needs to improve but he is not 6 till February so you would be hopeful of him improving a few pounds before Cheltenham without actually winning a race. Given that, i’m hoping to get 16/1 / 14/1 NRNB

The race looks like it will cut up badly so taking a flyer on a bigger price isn’t a bad tactic

Defi will go champion chase now surely
Min didn’t look at his best on Sunday
Chacun will go champion chase if fit
Douvan has a niggle and wont race over Christmas
Cyrname needs to go right handed
Footpad has a lot to prove
Frodon has had a poor start to the season
Road to respect seems to be an early season horse

So there are holes to be picked in them all, if you were guaranteed soft ground then waiting patiently is the one that jumps out to me at 16/1 but backing him ante post is never a good idea

Like you say FF that’s a dodgy one as well considering they have always said they would swerve Cheltenham with him given his past injuries. That was in the past mind you so

“He’s in at Leopardstown, there’s the Desert Orchid, the Clarence House, the Ascot Chase and the Queen Mother and Ryanair,” Jefferson said. “I can’t leave him for Cheltenham because I wouldn’t know what the ground will be there and he loves it soft.

They wont be swerving Cheltenham but will only go if the ground is soft

I still think that A Plus Tard is the one for me here, I haven’t seen anything else to tempt me so far, but I never got round to topping up that 25’s.

For all it wasn’t that big a bet, decided to lay it off for a small profit, and I’ll go back in at NRNB, for all I know that I won’t get anywhere near 25’s.

Riders Onthe Storm was good today. 20-1 I’m tempted.
