Sorry guys but this is amusing to me.
Just wondered how many of you think Ruby will fall at the last on a favourite at Cheltenham?

You should be – a pointless question & horses tipping up is never ‘amusing’
January 27, 2017 at 14:25 #1284006You sound like a politician in which you can’t ever lose an argue meant and get offended by everything so that being said you win this argument and I’m very sorry.

No argument pal – I’ve been called many things but never a politician. I am not offended easily, nor have you offended me, but I found the whole Ruby falling at the last saga last year ridiculous so a post 12 months on speculating the same thing in amusement is hardly going to have me leaping for joy.
January 27, 2017 at 14:37 #1284009Looking at this argument in grand scheme of things all I can say is.
The amusing to me was that I can see all the punters accas coming in but for 1 horse to ruin it, and I could see that being none of Ruby’s. Purely because of chambord du lys the other day where it buggered up.Of course I would always be concerned for an horses welfare of faller. It was a slightly dark joke.
And Ruby is a superb jockey but I bet the bookies are praying he comes to their rescue
January 29, 2017 at 20:36 #1284620Hate to say it but Ruby was at it again today fell twice at the last.
Tried to fall on let’s dance aswell.
Don’t care if I get stuck for this but it’s getting ridiculous and I can see it happening at the festivalJanuary 29, 2017 at 23:07 #1284678Hate to say it but Ruby was at it again today fell twice at the last.

Don’t care if I get stuck for this but it’s getting ridiculous and I can see it happening at the festivalTried to fall – thats a serious accusation. Also the most stupid comment ive ever seen posted on this usually great forum. To accuse a top jockey of trying to fall off a horse potentially killing the horse and seriously injuring himself is some whopper to come out with.
January 29, 2017 at 23:21 #1284681Anyone who suggests that a jockey would intentionally cause a horse to fall is just wrong. If a trainer or jockey wanted to cheat then there are much easier, safer and better ways of deliberately losing a race than intentionally causing a horse to fall at the last. If someone intentionally wanted to lose a race then they wouldn’t leave it til the last jump.
Its a totally ridiculous thing for anyone to even think of suggesting

I disagree with the thread completely and think it’s a stupid subject.
However, I don’t think he meant literally ‘tried to fall’.

January 29, 2017 at 23:40 #1284690I forgot that on here you can’t use body language or tone of voice when writing!
When I say tried to fall it was clearly a joke. Not accusing me of fixing at all lol just stating he nearly fell again. Not doubting his intentions. But if you all want to cry go ahead lol.
I think I put up a lot of sense on this forum and for you to accuse me of stiff just for making a joke is ridiculous. Especially when I’m someone who makes a profit every single festival. Not a lose to me if you don’t want me on here at all. But you have all just jumped on that comment from the wrong end of the stick.January 29, 2017 at 23:44 #1284692I forgot that on here you can’t use body language or tone of voice when writing!

January 29, 2017 at 23:50 #1284694You all sound like the BHA lighten up.
Can have a laugh on here aswell.
Some people like to play devils advocate.
Don’t have to like every single thread on here.
I’m serious 90% of the time on here.I have a lot of respect for Ruby he’s been superb over the years just one of the strangest things in racing how often this is happening. Clearly is a pure coincidence.
Sorry for offending people but I love this forum don’t understand why people are so stiff and governing on here. Getting a serious as Brexit and trump debates.
Light hearted banter in this game is needed sometimes. Look at Matt chapman!
Bet you lot all hate him though hahahaJanuary 29, 2017 at 23:51 #1284695Yes thanks middle of March you probably understand I was using a turn of phrase least I thought I was haha
January 29, 2017 at 23:58 #1284696I’d say there is plenty of room for humour and banter on here
I suppose it’s a bit of a sensitive and distasteful issue and understandably so with the risks involved for horse and jockey when they do fall.Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026

I know Ruby gets battered for this topic and I just wanted a laugh with it.
It’s just general public banter with the lads where you say oh he’s tried to fall again. It’s been totally taken the wrong way. Of course I hate seeing horses jockeys injured.
I love this forum and I will continue to have a bit of humour occasionally even if it’s not politically correct sometimes.January 30, 2017 at 11:11 #1284732I’d say there is plenty of room for humour and banter on here

We are all still reeling with the death of Meet The Legend (fell and died at the last) and Many Clouds who didn’t fall but died giving his all. Ruby’s fall on Annie Power at the Festival several years back was sickening and thank goodness she got up (and Ruby too of course).
It’s exactly the sort of thing you do discuss with a couple of mates at the pub or in my case with the girls at Costa.
I can see your theory and feel that you want to inject some humour into it but it’s just not pleasant to think of Ruby coming a cropper on Douvan or Faugheen or any horse anywhere before the Festival, and I know you don’t mean it that way.Difficult to see why you want to see punters accumulators go down as it’s lining the bookies pockets and you know we all want to give them a good bashing. Personally I don’t touch them especially when you see them offering big odds on a short price favourite before a race. Anyway I’m sending Ruby a big pot of superglue to stick on his bottom and his saddle and praying he stays put. So that’s not going to happen

There is a similar discussion going on within the Forum if you want to discuss poor old Ruby’s bad luck (and that’s what it is
) he’s a great horseman and we all want to see him make the Festival.
Here is the link:-I’d leave this Thread to disappear down the list Jas it’s not going to make Nathan’s Thread of the Year.
Come and join in some of our competitions Nathan runs a great Cheltenham Festival Compy so see you there.
