Im very much looking forward to Punchestowns run over fences this week.
He may be a RSA horse if he jumps well.
November 24, 2009 at 16:12 #260303Diamond Harry is a fine prospect with tons of talent but he doesn’t look like a chaser or a stayer to me.
RSA would be the last race on my mind.November 25, 2009 at 13:00 #260423Mikhael will go for the Arkle ( and win it ) in my view and will win the GC sooner or later.
The winner of the RSA will be Pride of DulcoteNovember 26, 2009 at 14:56 #260601AnonymousInactive- Total Posts 17716
Paul Nicholls didn’t intimate that the RSA Chase is on the agenda for Michel Le Bon – indeed, his remark of ‘we won’t aim to high with him until he’s more experienced’ would seem to suggest connections are considering swerving Cheltenham this time around – but after such an impressive debut at Newbury (where we’ve also seen a likely Arkle contender in Riverside Theatre) it’s surely difficult not too have one eye on March? Or does Nicholls’s apparent reluctance to over-face the horse indicate that Pride Of Dulcote is thought capable of doing the job?

Or that he know’s there is a not a huge gap between Punchestown and Big Bucks and IF Punchestown were to reproduce a similar level over fences MLB would get nowhere near him??

If that’s the case, why aim anything at the race?
November 27, 2009 at 10:11 #260712It was an impressive run from Michel Le Bon, however, some of his jumping was very novicey yesterday.
I was impressed with his first first jumps, seemed to put himself correct at times when you expected he would put another stride in.
His jumping seemed to decrease in quality as the race went on, but with Pettifour the only challenger, who seemed beaten from a long way out, Michel Le Bon was never really put under pressure.
Probably a waiting game now, to see if his jumping does improve over the season, and possibly if it does, then they will aim him at Cheltenham. If not, then with another seasons experience underneath his girth, he will be better for it.
November 27, 2009 at 10:39 #260714The reason why michel le bon s jumping was a bit novicey is because yes he is a novice , thats one of the qualifications to run in the RSA . He will definately improve although he may not even be Graham Roach s best hope in this race as Definity and who knows if they can find the key to Fistral beach may both be aimed at the race too.

November 27, 2009 at 17:13 #260827Pleasing debut for Punchestowns there, travelled and jumped very well.

Definity is out for the season as I understand it.
December 2, 2009 at 14:17 #261788Very impressive performance by Pandorama. His jumping wasn’t that fluent in the early part of the race but got better the further they went. That was probably the best 3m novice performance we have seen so far.

I was disappointed that Ruby didn’t make more use of Alpha Ridge, especially so given his post-race comments that he’ll benefit from a step up in trip, but quite where the winner’s performance stands amongst other staying novices is open to question.
I don’t think I’d be overly keen to step him up to 3m just yet.

Still 12/1 available! This horse is one of those very slow learners, particularly when it comes to jumping fences, but he is certainly going the right way and he has an engine!Cheltenhams fences will catch him out i"m afraid thm!Unless of course connections can give him 3 or 4 more runs to build him up for the big one!
December 8, 2009 at 22:11 #262838I’m surprised no one has mentioned Knockara Beau to be honest. The fact that he managed to finish fifth over hurdles at the festival when he is obviously a chaser was very encouraging, and I think he and Weird Al are two serious horses, as they pulled clear after the last. Knockara had nothing more than a school round the other day, but his jumping was very good and I just think that given his trainer (who is having a good run at the moment) and his capable but unfashionable jockey, he is being written off in the betting without foundation.
If anything I think he’ll improve for the step up to 3m, and he handles all types of going, I think there are less doubts about him than most. Weird Al is obviously very good as well, but he’s very inexperienced at the moment and I’d be worried if he doesn’t have at least 2 more starts between now and the festival.December 10, 2009 at 21:09 #263279Robert – Weird Al(11-8) runs tomorrow at Cheltenham 12:05 against :-
2m 5f
Five dream 11-8 Nichols/walsh
Awesome George 11-5 King/Huxley
Minella Theatre 11-5 Knight/AP
Pigeon Island 11-0b Twinston/Brenna

I"ll stand by that quote for now! I was more impressed with Weapons Amnesty finishing 2nd to Pandorama at Leopardstown today than the winner!
