His pulled up was because he wasn’t right , Elliot confirmed he didn’t eat up the morning of the race and in hindsight wouldn’t have run him , also he,s not built to hurdle he was bred to jump a fence …and he,s excellent at that , is I’ve said previously elliot confirmed after the last run ” he,s blowing hard and will come on for the run ” , in my eyes he,s solid and should be favourite , he,s the best value even if you played safe e.w

If the horse didn’t eat up that generally means he isn’t well in himself – He might not like travelling never mind the course being a potential issue.

I’d be more worried about champs course form than Battleoverdoyen

BOD hasnt a prayer of winning this, far to slow, course form wouldnt worry me, would be better suited in the 7 miler

Ham what u basing this on ? , he,s unbeaten bar his pu and a front runner who hasn’t been headed over fences , I don’t get this he,s to slow , it’s the RSA not the champion chase …who you think is going to win this ?

Ham, out of interest do you think he outstayed Champagne Classic or something? Could’ve sworn he looked pacier to my eye with CC staying on at the finish. He’s a big horse so he’s never going to look absolutely electric.
Don’t think he does a lot in front either, faster than he looks.

I agree Jack , he,s a Denman type not a Kauto Star but that doesn’t mean he can’t win this , I really think he,ll jump them daft

Champs course form? Second to City Island last year was a great run? Was hosing up until he crashed the second last last week aswell, before that he’d jumped perfectly.

Champ’s fall was a bad one – the sort that can leave its mark. I would want to see him run again and jump well before I could consider backing him.

Champ’s fencing technique is fine. He has the makings of a very good jumper and just needs more experience. The Cheltenham fall looked like a lack of concentration.

I’m not convinced 3m at festival pace is what he wants but he’s so good I’d back him in the RSA even though I think he’d have an easier task in The Marsh

steeplechasing I’m more convinced that 3 miles will suit. He will be going a tad bit slower in the RSA compared to the Marsh Chase (whatever its called now), so can take his time a bit more. Nicky Henderson confuses me at times, he said when he won 2 starts ago it was his fault running him over 2 and a half miles. Yet what does he do next time? Run over 2 and a half miles. ha ha. There may have been no suitable 3 mile races but, still, made me smile. :-)

He has a grand chance in the RSA still barring accidents.

Patrick mullins seems to think this race would suit faugheen more than the JLT

He said he got out jumped by samcro at limerick as faugheen wasnt quick enough from A to B so the slower pace of the RSA may be better for him

Skybet are 20/1, very tempted to add that to my 33/1 on battleoverdoyen

Mike, you have to remember that the trainer doesn’t make the decisions a lot of the time with that owner.
