Unusual for me not to have a strong fancy in this, but that’s the case this year.

Escobar looks a huge price, but not convinced with the ground, and has a lofty mark to contend with. I’ll no doubt cover him anyway.

The one I’ve definitely went with though is Cruyff Turn. Career high mark to contend with, but he impressed me with his attitude last time, decent jockey booking, and no ground concerns.

I’ve bet him early, and I’ll go in again if he drifts.

A pinstickers delight figures wise with 2/3rds of the field within 5 lengths on recent form.

One that did catch my eye and looks well enough handicapped is Fantastic Fox. Looks a bit of a hark back to Akehurst/Sutcliffe days in handicaps, comparatively lightly raced, a pipe opener to start, a sighter with a pormising third at Epsom and hopefully now primed to get in the mix.

    Bless Him

Had a nightmare draw last time but was still given a considerate ride. Two very good runs prior beating Varfortino cosily and maybe could of got a bit closer to My Oberon with a clear run afterwards.

Thing is with this horse is there are very few big handicaps on turf over a straight mile. A few later on but he needs really really fast ground which is very rare to get as well. Also most past runnings not having a low draw has been quite important also.

So a few things in his favour today, which he has not really had since he made Lord North look like a stayer. A lot luck in running needed but could have a decent chance with 7 places on offer.

I like Bless Him as well botchy but I have a hunch they won’t go hard enough up front for him, there is some pace in the race but for the amount of runners we have there aren’t that many out and out trailblazers and although Spencer is the perfect pilot for his run style, you know he’s a hostage to fortune in a big field like this. Wasn’t quite enough for me to back him at his odds, I have put him up as one of two with Rebel Territory for the forum competition, I’ve actually backed Etonian (similar thinking to Nathan, thought he shaped very encouragingly in the Spring Cup) and on the My Oberon/Bless Him race I’ve backed San Andreas, both at big prices, small stakes with the extra places. San Andreas ran a big race in a Premier Handicap at the backend of last year under this claiming pilot and if they don’t go that hard he’ll be in the right place near the pace.

Lots of views for this which is not surprising with so many runners. It’s Legend Of Dubai ew 7 places for me. Was bigger odds last night. Ran Lone Eagle to a length and a half as a 3 year old and that horse is rated 115, and Legend Of Dubai gets in here off 96. He may have sufficient lbs up his sleeve to run a big race if progressed from 3 top 4. As for the draw, I don’t know.

Legend Of Dubai should have a great chance but I’ve rowed in with Magical Morning on the basis of La Sayette taking 5lb off and in-form plus Bopedro who won a competitive handicap at the Curragh in taking fashion and may have been laid out for this since.

I wanted to take advantage of the 8 Pls available, but as I’ve gone for two here, it’s win only.

Bless Him 25-1 and Etonian 33-1.

Last year the first TEN home were drawn:

4-27-30-33-2-22-25-26-23-28 on good to firm ground.

The winner was G1 performer in the making and came home alone. Maybe the high draw will be significant again.

The one I like is the Jessica Harrington trained Bopedro who is drawn in stall 3. He has winning form on good ground and does well in big field. The other one I like is Via Serendipity who acts well at Ascot.
