Not sure where he will go now with this new 2m4f novice hurdle.
Get him in one of the races and he hoze up. Different Class to the Jump bred horses. Absoutely travels with zest on the bridle. Get the jumping sorted and the sky is the limit.
Would hack up in the World Hurdle next year with Big Bucks going Chasing IMO
December 15, 2010 at 17:39 #332762I’m not certain it was the best Royal Bond ever but you couldn’t help but be impressed with the manner of the win.
I think he’s fully justifed to be disputing with Cue Card at the top of the Supreme market – especially given the possibilty that he might go for the Champion Hurdle instead. Cue Card had Ballyadam Brook 18L behind him at Cheltenham and I’d be fairly confident that he’d have been beaten a similar distance had he run in the Royal Bond. Could be a cracking start to the festival if they both run in the Supreme.
Would they consider going for the Champion this year? (admittedly it looks a hot renewal)…physically and in terms of flat experience he looks a far better candidate than Cue Card for the senior Championship.
Doubt he’ll even have an entry considering the yard already have Hurricane Fly and the owner has Blackstairmountain. Beating Perfect Smile, The Shepherd King and a few other staying chasers in waiting is miles off Champion Hurdle form. His target I presume will be ground dependent. If there’s a bit of an ease he’ll run in the Supreme but if it was quick I’d expect Willie to run him in the 2m5 race. He also has Ballyhaunis and Bishopsfurze so he might want to keep them apart.
