Fatally injured running loose at Haydock today
December 19, 2020 at 19:31 #1514763Sad to hear this- it was a horrible fall.
December 19, 2020 at 20:03 #1514768Wait a minute, he unseated and kept on running with the field. Then he took a somersault at the very next fence and I thought he got up okay and kept on till the end of the race.
Sorry to hear this, but I guess you know more than I do.
May he rest in peace.
December 19, 2020 at 20:08 #1514769It was announced on Itv that he injured himself while running loose I’m guessing from the fall
December 19, 2020 at 20:44 #1514775Poor boy jumped next fence loose ok, then somersaulted at the following one, horrible fall probably instant. A couple of other loose horses finished the race ok.
RIP Roll AgainDecember 20, 2020 at 16:14 #1514823So sad for the horse and his owners.
Reminded me of Synchronised in the Grand National and before him Mackelvey.
Even more heartbreaking when a horse has survived a fall and goes on to be fatally wounded.
RIP Roll Again 😪Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...December 20, 2020 at 16:53 #1514825Those two were in my thoughts too Triptych, along with several other horror incidents involving more lowly horses that I’m ashamed to say I can no longer remember the names of. I am always disappointed that more isn’t done to try to stop riderless horses continuing (or just racing off into the void), either by course design or having riders on course
December 20, 2020 at 22:21 #1514834It looked a horrible somersault but it wasn’t instant as the vets tried very hard to save him and the next race was delayed whilst they worked on him … poor lad …
December 21, 2020 at 09:32 #1514841Awful to hear that, had hoped it was instant so he didn’t suffer too long. Such a shame , his jumping had looked sound before he unshipped his rider. Very sad for all concerned.
