Very sad to hear this fella paid the ultimate price for his racing career. Severed a tendon so badly it was decided it would be best to end his time with us.
He ran very respectably among serious competition in the DSR Contracts Novices Chase which included the RSA favorite Time For Rupert.
He improved immenseley having taken to fences and winning two on the trot at Fakenham, the latter a 37 length win. He deserved to take his chance today in this classy race and acquitted himself brilliantly finishing his race like a true professional despite suffering his ultimately fatal injury. I have huge respect for these animals and Robo is the embodiment of my respect today.
Seeing him walk back to the saddling enclosure was the highlight of my day today so I am understandably disappointed with the news that he was humanely destroyed. I’ve never backed a fatality but it had to happen sometime. Thats not the only reason I’ll remember Robo, he’ll bne remembered as a brave and determined horse who had more potential than he had time to display it.
Condolences to the owners The Ravenstone Partnership and also to Rene Robeson and Dominic Elsworth. This isn’t why the horses are raced but it is a clear risk that both horses and jockeys, brave enough, are subjected to. Respect to them both in memory of Robo.
