From the RP:
PA RACING journalist Robert Pratt died at his North Yorkshire home on Thursday after a brave battle with cancer. He was 56.
A much respected figure among his colleagues and in the racing industry, Robert joined the Press Association in January 1997 having spent many years in racing. His last few years were spent as Northern Racing Correspondent, a role he embraced with great enthusiasm and endeavour.
Blessed with a tremendous appetite for work, he was invariably the first person in the press room and the last to leave.
Robert will be missed by all those who had the pleasure to know him. He leaves a wife, Joan.
As someone who worked with Robert at Goodwood and York this summer I would like to send out my condolences to Joan and his family. He was unbelievably dedicated to his job and never complained about his illness. In fact he looked unbelievably well just six weeks ago and it’s come as quite a shock. Very sad. :(
