Didn’t his trainer once say he had enough speed for 6f?!

Though if you read the below story – over 6f – it might be all over before he wakes up… – the 1m 1/2 should give him the time to collect his thoughts and get going!

    The story behind the name:

    DEAD VAN WALKING

Rip Van Winkle won Wednesday’s Sussex Stakes at Goodwood in great style following a last-minute injury scare, and it emerges that his passage in early life did not always go smoothly either. Aidan O’Brien’s Galileo colt, who also had an hiccup in the lead-up to finishing fourth in the 2,000 Guineas, was bred in Italy and Cristiana Brivio Sforza, who raised him, recalled: "The people at the farm called him ‘morituri’ [a Latin word meaning ‘future dead man’], because he had every problem that a yearling can have. One day I found him lifeless, stretched out on the ground in the paddock. He got up 20 minutes later and we never understood what happened."

    Nice story.

They’ve all got enough speed for 6f.

On Italian/Latin names, I do wonder whether the singer Little Boots is ever referred to as Caligula?

If Rip Van Winkle wins King George I’ll quit racing and give my bank to charity.

Why be so categorical Mr Wilson? The horse was 2nd in the Eclipse last year.

Made up 10 lengths in the last 2 furlongs. I will be personally using him as a bank during 2010.

What price for the King George – July Cup double?!!

You couldn’t make this up – here’s where the idea came from – not that I’m a believer!

“I can’t tell you how amazing this horse is because he didn’t have a clear run in any of his races this year. The Eclipse was the first half-clear run he got. He’s had so much speed always – I know everyone goes on about me saying that but it’s all cruising speed with this horse. We’ve never had a horse with so much class and speed by Galileo. He’s a horse we’d have no problem running in the July Cup (six furlongs). It’s pure class with him.

I saw that he was entered in the Lockige, has AOB confirmed when/where he is aimed for this season? Best horse running this year. As Harry Findaly might say ‘Use him as a bank’
