Very sad. RIP.
February 2, 2018 at 13:05 #1340275Sad news, hope Waiting Patiently can do him proud at Cheltenham.
Value Is EverythingFebruary 2, 2018 at 13:20 #1340281sad sad news
thoughts to all his family
February 2, 2018 at 13:26 #1340284Ruth Jefferson has been running the show with Malcolm ill in the last few months, maintaining the usual high standards. I dearly hope Waiting Patiently, Mount Mews and all of the other good horses remain in her care.
February 2, 2018 at 13:30 #1340286Always seemed a genuine and likeable man.
Dato Star was one I followed and his 17 length demolition of Relkeel in the Champion Hurdle Trial at Haydock was something to behold.
George Chaloner gave the best tribute I have seen:-
“The Greatest Man I have ever met. Malcolm Jefferson was more than just a boss, but a true friend. I owe everything to this man as without him I wouldn’t have had a successful riding career nor become the man I am today. RIP Mr Jefferson”
That says it all. RIP
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
February 2, 2018 at 13:50 #1340288Such a shame!!
Seemed a wonderful man every time he spoke on tv and always seemed to show patience with his horses.
Hopefully Ruth will keep up the good work and have some nice winners.
Thoughts are with the family at this sad time R I P
February 2, 2018 at 14:52 #1340307A huge shame and a blow for northern racing.
Appeared to be a genuinely likeable man who provided me with one of by biggest wins when Tindari won at the festival.
RIP
February 2, 2018 at 16:01 #1340320Very sad news, my thoughts are with those close to him. R.I.P.
Seemed to be very good to his horses and never rushed them, and good with young jockeys likewise.
Racing is a worse place for his passing.February 2, 2018 at 22:32 #1340399A really underrated trainer and, more importantly,a really good man.
RIP
February 2, 2018 at 23:01 #1340409RIP Mr. Jefferson
Echo all of the above wonderful tributes.
He will be sadly missed.
January into February has seen so many sad losses in the racing world, trainers, jockeys and horses all unique in their own way.
