Anyone provide any background – how she got started, number of horses etc.
Noticed she has turned out a few bumper winners and if breeding is anything to go by she has another runner worth keeping an eye on tomorrow.
June 29, 2009 at 22:43 #237056Stilvi, there’s an article on her here:

Started with Peter Bowen, went to the States and has now returned to Wales.

Thanks, I am guessing she has made a good enough start to have more than a dozen now.
June 30, 2009 at 00:58 #237080According to this years Horses in Training she has 11 horses in training…
1. Curries Brae
2. Mango Catcher
3. Marodima
4. Moonlight Music
5. Naughty by Nature
6. Ptibaby
7. Shifting Alliance
8. Stealing Moments
9. Tarsus
10. Viking Affair
11. ZaydarJune 30, 2009 at 01:07 #237081Add to those Black Jack Blues, Call Me Mulligan and the one tomorrow.
June 30, 2009 at 16:56 #237148Three from nine in bumpers since taking out a license, I believe, and the fact McCoy isn’t up on this afternoon’s candidate needn’t concern – his ride on Call Me Mulligan was only his second ever for her. Today’s pilot Donal Devereux has appeared capable enough to date.

June 30, 2009 at 19:11 #237162Donal won`t be found wanting on The Jigsaw Man but Rhondda Boy and Quedillac provide stiff opposition. Very tough race to call.

I haven’t noticed him enough to give an overall judgement but he did have an absolute nightmare on Pure Faith at Uttoxeter. Finished fourth on what I suspect will turn out to be best horse in the race by a distance.
June 30, 2009 at 21:24 #237173Donal’s not a bad young pilot (much thanks to good schoolmaster Take The Stand), but his ride on Pure Faith is best described as a learning experience.
July 1, 2009 at 00:50 #237191She has also acquired
Court Red Handed
(impressive when landing an Irish point for PJ Colville) and
Gus McCrae
who was reportedly Cheltenham Bumper material prior to his bumper debut.
I expect these two horses to make their mark given the promise they have already shown along with the trainers obvious ability to get the best out of her charges with limited supply.
Does anybody know if there is an assistant / advisor in the background?

Someone less blonde perhaps?

I haven’t seen the race yet (away all weekend); but whilst the comments in running have Pure Faith down as being bumped late on rather than bumping, was it a case of Donal going for a run up the inner that simply wasn’t there? Clumsy clumsy.

July 2, 2009 at 18:53 #237439No ,he was bullied by an old hand.Best forgotten He won`t let it happen again . Pure Faith would probably have won thats for sure and it cost me in the pocket. Bags of skill Donal and will get close to the top. Rode lots of mine and I have every confidence in him.

The closing stages didn’t look very clever but I had more of a problem with his stick to the inner policy earlier in the race which saw him shuffled back to last and probably lose vital energy in regaining his position. I think Uttoxeter is a very fair track and there is little excuse to get boxed in on a decent horse. In contrast to that performance kept it very simple at Stratford and got his due reward.
