I have written topics about this before but I never seem to get a response. Its about racing tapes from the early to mid 1990s. I would be interested if anybody has copies from the Cheltenham and Aintree meetings from around that time not just the races but the whole days programmes. There is some great stuff on youtube. There is also the History of Horse Racing Twitter page that has plenty of coverage from the 80s up to the present day. I’m not on social media so can not contact who ever does that Twitter page. If anyone can help I would appreciate it.Thanks
Timely post Solihull. I will be going through my old VHS collection in the next few weeks. I used to tape racing off the telly quite often and some of the recordings probably survive. Whether they actually ARE what they say on the label is another matter but we’ll see and, if there is anything you want, you are more than welcome to them.
Hi Solihull. My interest in racing really took off at the start of the 1990s, and I have loads of stuff taped from TV from that decade. I almost certainly would have recorded some of the Cheltenham and Aintree coverage in its entirety.
I have a long-term project on the backburner to digitise these recordings, but it won’t be happening any time soon! I’m also not sure what has actually survived various house moves to the present day or how good the picture quality will be now. However, I do still have quite a lot of tapes, and when I get round to looking at it further I would be happy to notify you. That said, hopefully you’ll get some more useful leads before then!
About six years too late I’m afraid – I had hundreds of VHS tapes of racing from the 1990’s which I eventually threw away.
I even had what you were looking for, including complete programs for every Grand National and Derby in the 1990’s.
I did digitise quite a few VHS cassettes before chucking them but not sure I included any of the racing ones, I have a feeling I didn’t.
If I get a spare half hour I’ll have a look and if I did copy any I’ll let you know and you can have a copy

It sounds like the period you are interested in is quite broad, but if there are any standout days that you’d be particularly keen to get your hands on feel free to mention them. When I go through what I have will keep an eye out.
