Racing UK will launch it’s HD channel on Sky 432 on 7 March in time for the Cheltenham festival.

February 16, 2016 at 23:57 #1233950Bah humbug………….I am a Virgin Media customer that subscribes to RUK and I received a letter from RUK confirming the new channel but it is only for Sky customers currently.
February 17, 2016 at 10:23 #1233968After years of having a normal Virgin box I recently got a Virgin HD box…….
I can’t tell the difference between HD and normal on the channels that have both……they look the same to me !

I have this problem but to notice the difference look at Sky Sports News HQ when Soccer Saturday is on and you will see how different the graphics look.
February 17, 2016 at 22:20 #1234102I think we can still “suffer” SD for a while yet. Will depend on the quality of your TV of course and how well you’ve adjusted your picture settings. You would be amazed how many people haven’t bothered to optimise their set since switching it on for the first time.
At some point every channel will be HD and SD will disappear altogether.
....and you've got to look a long way back for anything else.
March 19, 2016 at 19:31 #1239036Had my first look at their new HD channel over the festival.
Picture quality was great, huge improvement. Really liked the new onscreen graphics, pin-sharp, nice contrast on the colours and layout and the Timeform information was a good addition.
Presentation, interviews and pundits during the racing action were good, they stuck to the A-Team throughout. A good idea. David Cleary adds plenty on the analysis front. Keep him there for the A-Lister meetings please.
Dont know if RUK has any input on the pictures that are broadcast, but the cameras all week were poor. The continuous zooming into the head of the field throughout a race does my nut in. Very difficult to get a feel for the pace and shape of a race with half the field out of view, completely unnecessary. Have a word…
March 20, 2016 at 10:31 #1239084I have never been able to tell the difference between HD and SD on my TV powered by a Virgin Box, are you telling me there are two kinds of box, that three years ago I invested in a new TV to receive HD and I needed a new box?
Why are these things not clearer? (Excuse the unintentional pun).
I don’t get RUK but I did notice that Channel 4 HD was down during the racing yesterday and my recording is a black screen. Also I thought the picture quality from both meetings yesterday was exceptionally poor. Did anyone else notice this?March 20, 2016 at 19:58 #1239144I subscribe to RUK but I think today was the last straw and I’m seriously thinking of cancelling, tuned in to watch the Carlisle meeting and they spent as much time ‘letting us all enjoy again’ the Cheltenham festival.
Now I’m pretty sure that all racing enthusiasts would be clever enough if they had not been able to watch live on TV then to record the highlights each evening but obviously RUK found a great opportunity to fill time on today by yet another repeat of repeats, woeful but more fool me for subscribing.March 26, 2016 at 13:42 #1239891I am watching RUK today as no football on a message to Mark Johnson can you please stop getting a US racing comment in in ever link, “American racing this US racing that, Kentucky Derby this etc etc”.
Yes we know you like US racing but we don’t need it forced down our throats.
