Check Tom Segal’s article on Irish Racing, Page 8 in today’s Racing Post
It sums up exactly my own personnal policy for betting and why I do most of my betting in Ireland. (90% I reckon) Although unlike Tom I rarely bet in Handicaps.
Well worth a readFebruary 10, 2010 at 13:57 #275372Yep, interesting stuff from TS as always.
The bit about watching races as often as possible is good advice.
As is the advice about sticking to better class events.
Not sure about restricting activity to Ireland though. Plenty good racing in the UK, just ignore the dross.
February 10, 2010 at 14:08 #275377Interesting – TS seldom puts up a bet in a weaker race or at a minor track though. Most of his RP betting at least (well the successful stuff) is done in big handicaps and graded races, where all the horses are trying as opposed to the maiden hurdles at Downpatrick and Tramore when you can spot 10 or 12 "not offs" from the outset.
February 10, 2010 at 14:14 #275381In fairness he doesn’t have much choice given that he has to tip in the early price races except on a Sunday when there aren’t any. No argument from me about the value of specialisation and watching races.
