Maybe I am a bit slow on the uptake, but can anyone advise how to access previous runnings of a race from years past on this new site? On the old site the procedure was to go to "Results Search" and then type in the name of the race in question , ‘Boylesports.com Gold Cup’ for instance.
December 10, 2008 at 23:59 #195981If you click on yesterdays results from the main page you get the search box for past results displayed next to yesterdays results
December 11, 2008 at 00:04 #195983Thanks for that, Kevin. I’ll get there in the end with this B****y Site!
December 11, 2008 at 00:55 #195997I still think it is appalling, ten days on. Just realised I have to open the site twice now to watch RUK because it doesn’t pop up anymore. Ridiculous. A million other niggly problems to inane to mention.
December 11, 2008 at 01:34 #196002No doubt the intrepid and hard-working band of racing journalists working for the other national dailies will soon name and shame those responsible for this pitiable shambles.
Note: this posting is an attempt at irony.
December 11, 2008 at 07:37 #196070Doing anything that was simple on the last site is now like trying to break into the world bank for me. I’m just getting a thingy me jig going round in circles everytime I try to get the cards. A thicky like me deserves the sporting life I suppose.
You are not alone!
I have earned money as a database developer and share your frustration.
The problem is they are trying to get money from you, either from their own "premium" content or links to other commercial sites. Add to this the delay from loading unnecessary content such as having statistics on the first page. Getting results is far more complicated than it used to be.
There are similar problems on the "mobile" site, they do not cnsider what users want.
December 11, 2008 at 17:10 #196133As crazy as this seems, if you type in to your browsers address bar:-
http://www.racingpost.co.uk/c4/
the Channel 4 racing site comes up and about halfway down there is the link for the racecards, which surprise surprise open up in the easy to read old RP style format.
The only thing missing are the ratings.
December 11, 2008 at 19:00 #196168alright,thats good to know.but the problem with the new site is that if you want to read trainers comments f.e.,you have to log in to members club and surely pay something in the nearer future.and sadly,i dont have the money for that.and until now,i have not found a relevant site where you can read trainers comments, view from the training centres etc…looks as if the RP has a monopolized status concerning that.but if someone has an info for me,dont bother to post,ok?thx andy

Trainer’s comments are often posted on the Sporting Life website, usually the night before, and always free of charge.December 12, 2008 at 05:02 #196316Being a bit of a saddo I went on the courses section of the site and looked at the maps and characteristics section. What a mess. The ariel photo for Ascot shows the building site for the new Grandstand and track when it was closed. Bangor has an ariel photo but no maps, Cartmel’s ariel photo is actually Catterick (catterick is catterick though). 4 of the 5 Scottish tracks (Ayr is the exception) have no ariel photo and you cannot zoom into Aintree on the ariel photo, in fact, it is just a blur.
Not at all good and the Ascot ariel photo has obviously not been checked which is totally unprofessional
December 12, 2008 at 07:16 #196329Does anyone know how to access cards for future races (If you don’t know the exact date of the race)? This was an easy feature of the old site but seems to have disappeared?
December 12, 2008 at 07:25 #196330I dont think you can really, unless you now a time of race, a date, or a horse running in the race (in which case you can click on it entries and select the race that way).
It does seem rubbish this new set up, and just had to close down my RP side window as it slowed my computer right down and was reading 256k memory usage and 95% of my CPU. Bring back the old one, and what is it with not being able to just see a simple betting forecast?
December 12, 2008 at 15:01 #196375Further to previous posts on this thread. The Timeform insights are free again on Friday/Saturday/Sunday again this weekend according to the Timeform and betfair websites.
December 12, 2008 at 15:03 #196376Sweet – I’m there already!

December 12, 2008 at 15:23 #196384Nice gesture from Timeform. Are their customers who pay for this information not a bit pee’d off though?

Does anyone know what is happening with the new website?
It is now 2 weeks old, and little better than the first day it was foist upon us, yet no one is answering what seems almost universal criticiism, and certainly no signs of any endeavour to make it any better.
Like the band on the Titanic, they keep on playing while their once useful website sinks deeper and deeper into the mire. Surely this can’t go on much longer?December 16, 2008 at 02:14 #197169Mixed views on the new website. Yes it takes longer loading, but i must say that it is far better than it was. The way in which you can eliminate horses and to show all the spotlights at the same time, really is helpful. I see that ATR are improving theres though, with little things added. But i must say, the new RP website is far much better than it was!
