Was rather disappointed today after receiving a courtesy call from the Racing Post that at as of the end of this month they will no longer offer streaming videos due to commercial breakdowns with ATR and RUK.
Of course videos are available elsewhere but having all the videos in one place at a click of a button was very convenient and it will be a frustrating experience having to dredge through both the other sites to get videos now (ATR not so much, but RUK don’t even have a bleeding search feature!)
I used to keep my own video archive on a couple of hard drives by using a piece of hardware called winTV but as my area started receiving better broadband and RP started hosting all videos it became less and less necessary and I just went down the streaming route.
Has anyone else had info? On the plus side for any members, they will give 3 months RP subscription free to try and entice people into carrying on their subscription.
July 10, 2015 at 20:33 #1128325I don’t understand why people are fussed when Sporting Life still have all the ATR and RUK videos in one place. You don’t have to pay a subscription fee – just have a SkyBet account, doesn’t even have to be a funded one.
July 10, 2015 at 22:24 #1128352TYF, I have been using RP vids for so long I didn’t even know SL did that. Thanks for that
July 11, 2015 at 10:27 #1128557I hadn’t read or received any notification from the Racing Post so I sent them an email.
Hi Guys,
I thought I better go and check the receive emails from the Racing Post box in my account, as I have just heard from a third party that the video replay feature will not be available from the end of the month.
I have to look at the positives, at least I don’t live in Greece…
Regards
Mike Bennett.
July 11, 2015 at 13:38 #1128958To be fair though……
since the last ‘upgrade’ when you save your race card settings now it does save them for a good 2 or 3 minutes before you have to re-save them
July 11, 2015 at 18:08 #1129555Doubtless the noble folk at the Post will be offering substantial rebates to those with annual subs
July 13, 2015 at 10:36 #1131979Can’t get to see any videos on the Sporting Life site, just the blue screen with ‘Already registered?’ or ‘New to Sky Bet?’ prompts but with no links attached, I’m logged into Sky Bet at the time so what do I need to do ???
July 13, 2015 at 10:54 #1132023Hit the Log In To Watch button and Log In. Presumably if you are already logged in it will go straight to video.
July 13, 2015 at 11:59 #1132273Thanks for reply Rob, where is the login button ? This is a capture of my screen
July 13, 2015 at 12:32 #1132511Ah, I see your problem, that’s not the screen I get.
If you are logged in to Skybet what happens if you log out and then go back in and log in through the video screen?
July 13, 2015 at 12:51 #1132692Thanks Rob, much appreciated. I logged out, then logged back in and videos are now playing.
July 13, 2015 at 18:02 #1134179You will also get that screen if you have pop up blocker on. Just for future reference if that happens to anyone.

Oh, that explains why I didn’t have the ‘sign in’ prompt display. Thank you Chivers.
July 14, 2015 at 11:59 #1134957bet365 also offer free replays of all the UK racing. I’ve used it for years now and I’ve never had a bet with them as far as I can remember. SO for now that’s another good option.
Jockey Club Racecourses have all their replays on here…
July 15, 2015 at 18:47 #1136971If the RP are being charged more for using the RUK & ATR video content going forward what will the future relationship be with the sporting life / bet365 / jockey club sites offering the equivalent video content free of charge?
Has anybody experience of the RUK.com video archive accessed through online subscription to the channel and what feedback do you have? (ease of navigation, quality, buffering speed, search, access to all historical video through racecard etc) For 28 EUR / 20 GBP (336 EUR / 240 GBP per yr) it is not practical solution for everyone but is an option if a high volume of content is watched and RUK offer quality (RP per yr circa 260 EUR / 180 GBP)
There appears to be a 25% reduction in next yrs membership for high video content users, considering there is no access to the daily newspaper on the site and the general racing data is good but inextricably linked to video content through which it is derived it could be suggested that 25% is an economical estimate for the value the content added.
