Gamble seems to have snowballed from Times online.
February 21, 2010 at 10:17 #278206Character Building seems to be a forgotten horse. He’s nicely handicapped and won very well at Cheltenham a couple of runs ago. 33/1 is a steal
February 21, 2010 at 11:04 #278214No; it was my 50p ew at William Hills that did it Gerald.

A steal for the bookies yes, as his trainer has said he goes straight to Cheltenham

Must have missed that

Ruby will find pegging back Nacarat a lot more difficult of Fastral Beach than he did on Kauto Star.
They took a gamble with Nacarat hoping to run Kauto into the ground which is a bit like peeing in the wind.
His final placing in the King George doesn’t really relate to how well the horse ran as he ended up dead on his feet because they through caution to the wind.
There’s no Kauto Star in this so he can be ridden within his capabilities which is a damn sight faster than most of these can go.
Can’t see anything good enough to get near him to be honest and think he’s really something to bet on.
Nacarat 5/1 looks good value as he looks certain to take part and start at much shorter odds when more than half of them don’t turn up.

Ellerslie George will give him a run for his money. George will keep driving himself infront until he’s there… aint no compromise from that horse.
February 21, 2010 at 21:30 #278342Have to agree with Fist on this one…think Nacarat at 5/1 is a very good bet at this stage, will be shorter than that come the day I reckon…
February 21, 2010 at 21:36 #278343The Sawyer, Miss Mitch and Kilcrea Castle pulled 22l clear of the 4th in that Ascot race. The Sawyer has franked the form twice since, and with MM and KC only 2/1 lbs higher respectively they would look to be ahead of the handicapper.
KC e/w @ 20/1 + 12/1
MM e/w @ 25/1That’ll do for me
ps: Nacarat definitely hard to beat. Looks quite well in off 158. Wouldn’t want it too soft though

Agree that Nacarat ran a blinder in the circumstances in the KG, and also that he looks a standout for this, given decent ground. Tony McCoy appears to think so too, having informed the trainer he was a grade 1 horse after riding him at Aintree, and also promoting himself for the ride in this when Sam Thomas got suspended.
Possol finished 9l second to him last year, but has improved since and looks to have been laid out for this all season. Can’t see him having the speed to reverse the form, but certainly one for the forecast, (again, given good ground).
All we need now is some decent weather.February 22, 2010 at 02:04 #278365An interesting one,as usual.
I’ve only just started looking at the race properly and am interested in Piraya, win and place.
Has anybody heard if he’ll be going for this or will he be aimed elsewhere?
Currently trading at 23’s,that looks decent value.February 22, 2010 at 04:57 #278367AnonymousInactive- Total Posts 17716

Joking Peter I wouldn’t have a clue mate
February 22, 2010 at 13:35 #278393Possol
for me.
Due respect to naccas, there could be a fair bit of pace on up front though?
February 22, 2010 at 15:35 #278419Rained all morning here in Kent. If they had the same at Kempton I’d have thought you could forget about Possol getting Good ground.
February 22, 2010 at 15:46 #278421Only 16 left at the 5 day stage. So Fistral Beach gets in, no problem.
Yet another AP bet bites the dust (Ellerslie George). Got a few quid on Kilcrea, but apart from that about the only good thing I’ve got going in Britain in the next few weeks is Alaivan £10 @ 20. At least there’s always Australia.
