Does the Racing Post do reports form each meeting like they used to? If they do I can’t find them …!!!!!!! and WHY do they not report on the fate of every runner? Apparently Sally’s Dream was pts at Huntingdon – and no mention on RP …
December 16, 2008 at 14:24 #197252Hi gang

the going corrections, standard times, topspeed of the winner etc… all on one page for the individual meetings. "That was so useful… but i don’t seem to be able to find it NOW"

carlisleDecember 16, 2008 at 14:39 #197258I still find the site much too slow, but have at least found my way round a few pages. It’s a right bind with my slower broadband speed at home.
The times and going corrections can be found by going to the ‘Results’ page for the meeting you need then picking ‘Full Meeting Information’. Below the list of races there is a ‘TIMES’ tab, and data can be found by selecting that.
Too much of the data on the new site is poorly signposted and difficult to find. The ‘art-farty’ designers have won out over the database designers.
And don’t even mention that f******* flowery/crop-circly thing!

Click on ‘Full Meeting Information’
Click on ‘Times’ tab (next to ‘Runner Index’) halfway down page.

I just said that!

Mind you, I used few more words to get there!

December 16, 2008 at 14:53 #197266Ten Plus,
Click on the ‘News’ tab on the top left hand corner (next to Cards and Results), then when you get that page up (after the Flash/crop circle finally decides it’s finished doing a pretty dance) you’ll find a ‘Reports’ tab on the right hand side of the screen somewhere on the list including ‘Top Stories’, ‘Latest Stories’ etc.
Be warned, it is in no way as comprehensive as it used to be.

The other problem I have found, is that some days the ‘Reports’ link/tab is there, and then other days it isn’t (like nothing happened that day?).

New RP site still a shambles. I hope they’ve shelved plans to start charging for the site anytime soon, until they have it working to 100%, otherwise I see the RP sinking quicker than the BBC’s racing coverage!
December 16, 2008 at 15:00 #197268Into the third week of this mess and still no sign that the RP are doing anything to rectify it.
That’s what come of launching in a blaze of glory, it’s hard to admit you were wrong.
December 16, 2008 at 15:01 #197270simple solution, go to nearest newsagent, give him a tenner. RP in letter box every morning about 7am, for a week.

Maybe that is the plan Barry

Thanks for the tilt towards Mozilla Firefox. I’d seen plenty of references but not tried it. Much better, the RP pages load much quicker.

December 17, 2008 at 20:51 #197675Has anyone else found that the videos don’t play on Firefox? Any suggestions?
December 17, 2008 at 20:55 #197676Matron put this up a few weeks ago carvills. The videos will only work with IE, annoying!! A belated thanks Matron. By the way I found this browser http://www.avantbrowser.com, whose engine is IE based. It works a bit faster and uses less system resources then the bog standard IE.
If you are using the current “Firefox” there, is not a true “IE plug-in” at present.
There is “IE View 1.4”; this “add-on” will automatically open “The Racing Post” site in “IE” each time from your “favourite” folder if you wish.
I find it quite useful as many sites are still only configured to run only in “IE” or have been designed to specifically look better in “IE” as, the browser is still the most popular worldwide.
December 17, 2008 at 21:43 #197689Thanks CR, works fine.
