At first glance not the classiest of renewals, but competitive nonetheless.
The form of the favourite Wyck Hill has been well advertised, with Katenko winning twice since, and he should run well. 3/1 in my opinion is not very appealing however.
The Nicholls pair Rolling Aces and Join Together should also do well, even though its probably a prep run for the National for the latter.
Quinz, a winner in 2011, has run abysmally since and hasn’t been seen since, but a return to this venue may spark something. Current wellbeing is an unknown though.
Summery Justice is one that interests me, with the yard having a great season, and seems to have been brought along gradually. His third lto was decent, and I think he will be suited by conditions.
February 18, 2013 at 21:22 #430010Like the look of Mister Hyde. Very impressive over course and distance outing before last. The rise in weights also helps his cause. Can’t rule out Nacarat again.
February 18, 2013 at 21:29 #430012He tired very quickly at Sandown, has to be a worry. Nacarat may be a bit long in the tooth now, but if the ground was good come Saturday he may run into a place. Same Difference is a game front runner, reminds me a bit of Hello Bud, jumps pretty well too. His close third behind Unioniste and HA reads very well in this context, band he annihilated a decent field at Leicester the time before.
Same Difference and Summery Justice for me.
February 20, 2013 at 19:08 #430108JP has bought Wyck Hill.
February 21, 2013 at 10:36 #430142Join Together appeals to me and i’m hoping for one more big run from Roberto Goldback before heading to Aintree.
February 21, 2013 at 10:59 #430145I fancy Rolling Aces and Roberto Goldback for this. RA looks to be on a fair mark and with a lot of the horses he has beat running very well, I think there is improvement in him yet. RG’s last two races were dire but they were on ground he hates and as a result his mark has gone down such that he’ll run with 11 – 5 if What a Friend stays in, and at 14’s he’s worth an each way punt.
February 23, 2013 at 11:39 #430323The change in ground could really find some of these out, and I’d put Wyck Hill into that category.
I’ve had small ew bets on Bobby Goldback and Duke of Lucca.
February 23, 2013 at 12:44 #23569I think one mistake you can make is to back several in the same race- it’s so tempting to do so in these open looking handicaps.
instead of doing so i’m going to go straight down the middle and back one of the obvious ones, rolling aces <!– s:D –><!– s:D –>
February 23, 2013 at 15:03 #430347Not the most inspiring field and Wyck Hill looks sure to be a popular selection along with Rolling Aces. Although seemingly well held by the latter I am giving a chance to Opening Batsman at 14/1. There seems to be no market confidence behind him and Noel Fehily is usually poison for me but at the respective odds I’ll hope the Batsman will not be caught out by the longer trip. Howzat
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
February 23, 2013 at 15:49 #430349had a small each way bet on what a friend the price is just to big if he comes back to form he should run a big race
February 23, 2013 at 16:06 #430350Well done Steve, looks a nice gutsy horse that one.
February 23, 2013 at 17:27 #430362Glad Maurice Linehan is okay, could have broken his neck there, landed on his head.
February 23, 2013 at 19:03 #430369Well done Steve, looks a nice gutsy horse that one.
I thought he travelled well today, unlike Wyck Hill who seemed ill at ease from a relatively early stage. Hope Nacarat retires now, I think he deserves to hang up his shoes.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
February 23, 2013 at 20:07 #430372I think he has, was running ok til he made a terrible blunder on the inside. Wyck Hill didn’t seem to like the quick pace or the quicker ground, looks too soon to give up on him, but will need to travel and jump better in future. Harry Fry has a nice one in his yard I think, jumped brilliantly and outfought a decent yardstick in Rolling Aces. Future looks bright for him and his talented young trainer.
