Well the first race has got off without mishap.
July 20, 2009 at 19:07 #240230Given that the accident last week happened on the bend, and they aren’t using the bend today, then that doesn’t come as an earth-shattering surprise!

Not according to Stuart Morrison – Director of Ayr Racecouse, or indeed Ian Ferguson – Head of PR at Ayr Racecourse.
Stuart Morrison, a director at the track, told Racing UK….."The incident was in the straight, I have to stress, and the stewards have made that quite clear – it was a fall as the horses came into the straight.
Ian Ferguson, head of public relations at the track…..There was rain before the first race and whether that caused the problem we don’t know, it was in the straight and it probably involved a tiring horse as well – there’s a lot of things to take into consideration

July 21, 2009 at 11:02 #240307With Ayr going down hill and the alleged remarks of Stuart Morrison – Director of Ayr Racecouse, or indeed Ian Ferguson – Head of PR at Ayr Racecourse, that all went well maybe was not earth shattering but I am sure there was a few fingers crossed.
July 21, 2009 at 11:21 #240308Why was Ayr extensively watered in the days before yesterdays meeting to produce and maintain good ground when the BHA’s supposed directive is water to produce good to firm?
July 21, 2009 at 21:43 #240356Is not Ayr Racecourse drifting along like a ship without a rudder?
August 14, 2009 at 16:09 #243882Sorry to drag up an old subject, but I’m sure the Ayr executive are hoping the newly aligned bend holds up at their next meeting. Otherwise the Western Meeting (as I will stubbornly still call it) will surely have to consist of the following races:-
Ayr Gold Cup
Ayr Silver Cup
Ayr Bronze Cup
Ayr Copper Cup
Ayr Tin Cup
Ayr Tea Cup
Ayr Coffee Cup
Ayr Soup in a Cup
Ayr Plastic Cup
Ayr Polystyrene Cup
Ayr Paper Cup
Ayr Oops we’ve run out of CupsOh…and the Firth Of Clyde & Harry Rosebury!!!

Sounds like horse racing in general
August 18, 2009 at 16:27 #244516And it does not look like anyone is about to sail out and take over the bridge in the near furture.
In the mean time racing is drifting closer and closer to the rocks.

Full steam behind!!!!!
