Richard you know the last race at Nad last night where both you and Angus thought that Mystical was sweating up before, it was in fact Fueguino sweating, similar colours. May be useful for future reference.<br>More importantly how’s your old horse after his exertions last Saturday, hope he’s sound, didn’t get beaten too far.
February 16, 2007 at 08:41 #28187Thanks Yeats – funnily enough noticed that last night when having a quick spin through the tapes. Hopefully it was too late to put anyone off !
Thanks for asking about BST. He has come out of the race ok which is about the best I can hope for these days. Even though being at the front of a steadily run race was tactically good we should have kicked on a little earlier but as first run back were just trying to hold him together.
Hcapper has dropped him 3 to 86 which is irritating as keeps him out of 0-85’s and with horses returning from Dubai soon he wont be competitive at that level.
So a little reluctantly in will be a claimer at Wolverhampton on 5th March over just short of 10f with price of 15k which reckon reflects his problems but makes him hopefully competitive.

I know I’m in a minority on this one but I’ve never subscribed to this "class" theory regarding handicaps. A horse is either competitive off his current mark or he isn’t. Rated 86, Blue Sky Thinking faces the same task giving 16lbs to a 70-rated horse as he does receiving a stone from a 100-rated horse.
February 16, 2007 at 09:10 #28189Disagree in this instance Gus.
Because of his injury issues it is his class that is his main asset and the higher grade means this is not the edge in 86-100 that is in in 71-85’s. The higher quality exposes his fragility too much.
It is why Darren Anderton can still score a hat trick for Bournemouth whereas in higher grade they would just close him down and expose his lack of pace.
86 is also too high on AW these days for him anyway especially as 83 on turf.
The other issue is there are simply no 86-100’s until Winter Derby trial day that are suitable whereas there are three 71-85’s that would have been possibilities in the same period.
February 16, 2007 at 09:16 #28190As I said, Richard, I know I’m in a minority on this.
Surely, Darren Anderton could still score a hat trick in the top flight if they handicapped the Premiership defenders accordingly. Tying their boots together, perhaps? The equivalent of putting lumps of lead in a higher-rated horse’s saddle.
Good luck with your horse, anyway.
February 16, 2007 at 09:21 #28191I like the thought Gus !
Would make Premiership for more entertaining. Could be a far better solution than any salary cap.
February 16, 2007 at 10:26 #28192Gus, I also have to disagree over the class/handicap mark point. I don’t bother about a horse being raised a few pounds but when this causes a rise in the class of the race it is very significant.
February 16, 2007 at 20:11 #28193Yours is such a widely held view, Wallace, that I suspect it’s "over bet". I’ll stick to mine.
