Hardly anyone will have heard of these horses, but I think they still deserve to be given the tribute of being on Memorials.
26 year old Quixotry, white in his old age, was PTS because he was starting to suffer – melanomas and lameness. Ran 10 times plus 5 PTPs and never won. But loved by children because he was so gentle and kind.
22 year old Paul Cass – PTS due to a sudden attack of colic that he couldn’t pull through. Ran once, 15th of 15. But Deanos Beano’s only equine friend for 14 years.
Happily they were two lucky horses who were (thank God) given a home by Greatwood for the bulk of their lives – happy lives where they were treated with love and kindness.
Quixotry’s best friend Harry (raced under the name Framed) is now with Deano, so neither are lonely.
Good to hear that Harry and Deanos Beano are together. I nearly bought a grey pony for my daughter many years ago but the vet told me that grey ponies/horses were very prone to melanomas, so we bought a dun instead. We must all support Greatwood as much as possible; they do a wonderful job.
