Well I hope those Twist Macic fans took heed. I feel heart sorry for anyone who jumped on that band wagon

They are my 2 for the race now Forpadys out! Twisty has beat Kalahari before you know Fist!

Come on AP, you’re better than that. He beat him on his home track after KK had run at both Cheltenham

    and

Aintree. Twist Magic has never shown anywhere near his best form at Headquarters and it is ludicrous that he is trading shorter than Murphy’s animal at this time.

    Master Minded is another story.

Ruby reckons Master Minded wasn’t right last year and he may well be right but why? The big question with him is has he done too much too soon?

Master Minded hasn’t shown the form that will be necessary to win this renewal for almost two years. It was a very poor race last year and Well Chief’s runs since suggest he is light years from the animal that tussled with MF and Azertyuiop. This alone means he should be taken on at such a short price and in Kalahari King I think we have the animal to go to war with. I think he’ll drift if MM wins the Game Spirit as well.

Why on earth would Twist Magic fans be worried about Kalahari King? Twist Magic has already slammed him once and this talk of it being Twist Magic’s "home track" ?!?!?! Is Ascot his "home track" as well then, or Exeter? People say he doesn’t like Cheltenham but he may well have won the Arkle but for falling a couple of years ago.

Kalahari King put up a nice perfomance today but it was a handicap and the horses he beat were handicappers. He won’t be good enough to win the Champion Chase if either Twist Magic or Master Minded turn up and run to form.

I know i am Euro, but this season Twisty is putting it all in!
What will hurt is if Kalahari wins easy as Forpady on good ground would have had his measure and i had a 3 figure bet on him!

Twist Magic fans should be worried about Twist Magic.
He is not certain to go on the track even after his antics last year. His behaviour at the start at Ascot a couple of week ago shows he is not completly a reformed character.

I agree with Ian. The horse has been stuck with labels which are seemingly more dated with every run. would much prefer Nichols aiming one for the prize than murphy too

I couldnt go near big zeb for this prize, for reasons well covered on thread

    1. Twist Magic beat KK after the latter had run at both Cheltenham and Aintree – this makes it irrelevent in terms of the QM.
    2. You’re surely jesting with your "may well have won the Arkle but for falling" argument.
    3. The reason KK is such a decent price is that it is quite likely that both Nicholls horses wont run anywhere near their best at the Festival. TM because he has no form there and MM because he hasn’t run near his best for two years.

Twist Magic beat Kalahari King 10l in the Celebration Chase, but that doesn’t tell one half of the story. Having pulled a muscle in the race (Graham Lee believes it was at the first fence) KK’s form for that race reads:

Not fluent at many early fences, last and pushed along after 5th, laboured progress after 10th to go 4th before 3 out and 3rd 2 out, kept on flat to snatch 2nd last stride

which puts a totally different perspective on his performance when compared to his other runs.
At no time during his 7 chase career has he ever jumped nearly as badly, his next worst effort coming in his 3rd outing at Haydock, on ground he doesn’t like, where despite 2 serious errors his overall performance was very much smoother than the above,(The ground at Doncaster today was no worse than good to soft – its obvious, even from TV pictures, that they were hardly making a print). Wouldn’t buy into him being forced into errors by Twist Magic either, as he didn’t make them in the Arkle, run at an equally strong pace.
He might have only beaten handicappers today but, right from the early stages, he travelled like much the best horse in the race, and given the almost certain improvement from now to the Festival, looks very much like another nail in TM’s already well-constructed coffin.
    Imo, of course.

Twist Magic doesn’t even come into calculations. If he runs to his norm, he won’t be fit he’ll drift like a barge and run round at the back of the field with his jockey whistling "It’s a long way to Tipperary.

They won’t even ask PN to explain his lacklustre performance, hell who would stop a horse in the QMCC?

They may well have ago this year but they certainly haven’t tried a leg with him over the last 2 years as they know he won’t get the trip. "He’s more of an Aintree type" said PN just before he ran like a mule 2 years back……..Yours truly was right in there and had his biggest bet of the season on MM.

I maintain PN does not think he will stay a yard of the trip and won’t go charging off trying to run these horses ragged. He’ll be dropped in and if they come back to him fair enough he’ll go for it but no way on earth will PN subject the horse to a hard race that he can’t win and lose out on winning his end of season customary Grade 1.

Kalahari King must have a great chance he can only improve for his great performance at Donny on Sat and with Master Minded still to proves he’s over his injury surely the values lies with this horse.

Good to hear Ruby singing Twist Magics praises there on RUK, he like those of us who know their horses, said he Would have won the Arkle had he stood up,he is maintaining his current healthy mental attitude, has no issues with his stamina, has no problems with the course and is expecting a big run from him in the Champion Chase! But what does Ruby Know??

He knows he’ll be riding Master Minded, and can therefore talk-up Twist Magic all he wants.

I personally dont buy that from Ruby.

Twist Magic wouldn’t have got past My Way up the hill, not a chance.
