Probably the race of the season for me and I’m glad it was the horse who had a jockey looking forwards winning. Does my nut in these jockeys looking around just run your own race.

    Thanks buckers,HDLG.

Nice one Tatling, new kid on the block beats the Champ. :good:

Green what a great race Lady Bowthorpe ran on her last outing well done on the 40/1 EW and I’ve just seen that I got best price from PP..result. :good:

Baaeed is something else and all to look forward to for next season, lets hope Sheika Hissa carrys on the family tradition as they are talking on ITV at this moment of possibility of Shadwell scaling down..

Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...

Is it a sign of lacking confidence with Frankie , he knows the horse , knows how good he is yet all he was doing was looking for Baaeed ….

Gosden is right. It was a shocker.

I admit I backed Palace Pier and I had him in a double with Trueshan, so I am talking through my wallet to an extent. And I accept Baaed is a top class horse who may have won anyway.

But I do not think it is unreasonable to expect your jockey to concentrate on riding his own race rather than worrying about something outside his control. Very poor from such an experienced jockey. :negative:

Having Baaeed tracking Frankie’s every move was always gonna cause unease.

I still think Baaeed would’ve pounced and won if Palace Pier had gone earlier.

Beyond me that anyone though Palace Boat could beat Baaeed.

Dont know why you think that. It was a battle and Baeed got the verdict its not like it was a steering job.

Interesting to hear Gosden say Frankie should’ve committed rather than waiting.

I was too busy watching the first two during the finish of what was a cracking race, and it wasn’t until I watched the replay that I realised what a storming race Lady Bowthorpe ran. What a performance to finish a racing career, chased the leaders from over a furlong out and still closing at the line.

Some if not all will maybe dispute what I’m about to post but as in any good debate everyone is allowed their view.I believe I’ve stated previously that Baaeed is good but for me not the wonder horse he’s being hyped as,however time will tell and in future I may revise my opinion.
Now to a probably more contentious issue as regard Palace Pier. For me this horse has been in decline for the last year although running well and being successful on numerous occasions he peaked at Deauville.Through my many years in racing learning, watching & assessing gaining experience as time passed Palace Pier might get into the top twenty. This would require a lot of research and going back through years of data and Timeform annuals. So this assessment of his ranking within the milers division is based on my own memories.
I would be interested to know how others would rank him as regards his place in history as in general I don’t believe there’s been an outstanding miler for a few years.
    good luck to all.

Baaeed would quite possibly be better over further. Its more likely than not. He could be anything over 10f.

The way he travels its hard to see what beats him if he stays 10f

Nothing. I really think he is out of the ordinary.

Theres not really much for him to beat atm either so the string of 1s will likely continue unless one of the classic generation is very good next season
