    HENRI MAATISE 7/2 Ladbrokes

Won French 2000 guineas ran a good race at Ascot and while Behind Rosalion at Goodwood.
That horse since ran at York. And the selection more fresher here

Souple (Flexible) on France-Galop. Drying day today and high of 29 degrees tomorrow so perfect ground expected.
Small bet on Sahlan at 20/1, winner of a group 3 last time, nice turn of foot.

I’m taking a chance on Hannon’s other runner..
    Persica 33/1 Each Way

He needs to step up for this but he’s beaten Ottoman Fleet and Will Buick has come to Longchamp to ride as Rebel’s Romance is a non runner in Baden Baden. :good:

Backed Alcantor each way last night at 25’s and see it’s in single figures now; be happy with a place.

From stall 11 had to tuck in and ride for a bit of luck. If he had Henri Mattise’s stall he’s closer to the pace and probably wins.

No Mike, he just had to move the horse out significiantly earlier, it was nothing to do with the draw, he had lead artist well covered, wasnt boxed in and chose to sit and suffer

Guaranteed he wont be on it NTO for the above reason

I’ve never rated Levey and that’s yet another horrible ride on Rosallion.

If I owned him he’d be off long ago. I wasn’t even impressed with the ride for a few of his wins.

    Great pick Chivers…

Levey was near enough to the winner when they made their runs so I won’t be too harsh on him.

Hannon should have offered Rossa Ryan the job as he helped him progress as an apprentice

Bet Hannon is hoping the owner makes the decision for him to get a different jockey for the horse – given the owner’s history of making decisions on moving horses with very little warning, I am a little surprised that he has stayed with the status quo on riding arrangements for this horse for this long.

There is also the fact that the horse quite clearly isn’t as good as Hannon bigs him up to be and maybe the jockey has bought into that misguided hype and rides him as if he is that good even though his performances have show him as a good horse but nothing more than that.

The very good/great horses are much more capable of winning when things go against them whereas the good horses (that do not have that much in hand over their rivals) tend not to be able to overcome them and thus have excuses to explain getting beat.
