… By the way, Stacelita is a Nazi horse – her 8th dam is Schwarzgold, who is considered Germany’s best ever horse, and winner of the 1940 Deutsches Derby by 10 lengths.
Schwarzgold was such a "
Nazi horse
", that she was hindered by force to take part in the "Braunes Band" at Munich – as big Nazi Christian Weber (very low number of party-membership) and founder of this Nazi-prestige-race was not willing to congratulate an owner, who fell under the "nuremberg act", for a win in that race, that was the Nazi-equivalent / substitute of the "Großer Preis von Baden".
Stacelita is as well a "
Nazi horse
" as f. e. Slip Anchor or Sagace were – you should be careful in using such words without knowing the historic background.
August 5, 2009 at 18:08 #242630Thanks for that Parlo.
I hope you realise I wasn’t serious.
August 5, 2009 at 18:56 #242639I wasn’t offended, just a bit annoyed. There are better chances of showing
good
humour – without fear of being misunderstood.
Probably Schwarzgold is the only horse in turf-history that was hindered to compete and win a race by military force because of
political
reasons.
But perhaps some board-members know similar incidents?!
August 5, 2009 at 19:01 #242640Le Havre 121 and Stacelita 122, i don’t think so !!!!!!! Now i don’t compile ratings or bother with any of that caper, but there’s no way those two should be at the bottom of that pile !
Oh I strongly disagree. I mean I don’t rate the current 3yos, but this season’s French lot are comfortably the worst since I’ve been punting. Shocking.
Westphalia’s done what since? Smashed into 5th by Lord Shanakill in the Jean Prat. And what did Lord Shanakill do in the Sussex?
Beheshtam? Obliterated in the GP de Paris. Calvados Blues? See Westphalia. Vesuve? Beaten by Debussy ffs. Drumbeat couldn’t beat a pacemaker, Glamstar’s been murdered in 2 Listed races, Guest Ville beaten in a Group 3 and see Beheshtam for Wajir’s latest effort.
As for Stacelita? Well the 3rd was beaten in a Group 3, the 4th finished last in the German Oaks and the 5th won a Group 3 by a short-head.
I will really be shocked if a 3yo wins the Arc this year. The door’s wide open for Conduit, Vision d’Etat and Ask.
I can’t be bothered going into all this detail about how the form stacks up of every serious contender. Stacelita looks like the real deal to me, and i don’t believe in using her defeated opponents to lesson her victories. I take the run for what it is on its own merits. I also believe Lord shanakill turned up lame at Goodwood after catching his leg in the stalls or something.

Amazing how we all see things diferently but of the two fillies Sariska is a much more compound, stronger and better balanced indiviual than Stacelita who I think will be totally burned in the Arc.
Horses get fattered every day and spotting which have been and which have not is never easy.
I would definitely put her in the former bracket and come the day she will think she has gone onto orbit when mixing with some of these. She looks a real gangly sort to me that will fold under pressure and I can’t see her having the the strength or to compete with the frantic pace in the closing stages. Not in my first 3.
August 6, 2009 at 01:02 #242688That’s fair enough Fist, it’s all about how we interpret things. Sariska does look brilliant. My concern would be what i see as an over the top response to her last win, much in the same way i guess people like myself may have jumped the gun a little early with Stacelita. I wouldn’t say to anyone that Sariska won’t place in the Arc, because i don’t know what the weather’s gonnae be like. At this point i can only say that i think there will be other horses better equipped to fight it out coming round that corner. This is no Irish Oaks, where every single horse had nothing in the tank, and Sariska just cruised by. It’s all building up nicely, and i hope Sariska continues to add to the hype by winning, because i do like her.

Well put Graeme,i have jumped on the Sariska bandwagon for several reasons, one is she looks like a 4yo colt,so she hasn"t stopped improving!
If i was to give a tip for the race it would be to take the 16/1 aboutVision d"etat
He ticks a lot of boxes IMO!
August 6, 2009 at 12:42 #242727I was on Vision d"etat in the Prince of Wales. He ran really well, and was given a very well timed ride. 16s is not bad at all, but i’m sticking to Stacelita and Conduit, and i have my eye on one other at the moment at a long price.
August 6, 2009 at 13:06 #242734i really dont understand how stacelita can be that price , she has absolutely no chance of winning it , very slow animal without turn of foot
and diane form is poor
very nice layvision d etat the underated will go close i think

Did you say that bit with a straight face ?
August 6, 2009 at 14:05 #242747Am I the only one who thinks that Fame and Glory will go very close in the Arc, and that 7/1 Conduit, 12/1 Vision D’Tat, 25/1 Ask + Youmzain are a bit too big.
August 6, 2009 at 14:55 #242751Vic, i don’t think you’re the only one who think F&G will go close, considering it’s favourite over here. I don’t think Conduit at 7s is too big considering what price he was. 25s+ on Ask and Youmzain are good prices for anyone taking them. Dunno what price Youmzain would be if Fallon got the ride.
August 6, 2009 at 19:02 #242799graemthedonkey i saw the prix de diane videos and maybe i am wrong but she looked very one paced in the straight , plumania and tamazirt were making an enormous amount of ground at the end
fame and glory is for me overated and his form doesnt look impressive
the big three horses are :
-youmzain (80% sure he ll finish in top 3 )
-conduit ( good e/w chance)
-vision d etat (underrated nice price )August 6, 2009 at 19:46 #242808Fair enough power. I just think that the jockey was testing her speed out and knew she was easily gonnae do enough to win. Hopefully she holds on a little bit longer against the boys then goes for it.
Goldikova done the same on Sunday. Was well in control and went ahead of them, so inevitably something is always gonnae close in to an extent to make the victory look tighter than what it is.
I wonder when her next run is ?
August 7, 2009 at 00:09 #242854Cutlass Bay’s out til next season.
Out of interest, is anybody taking Cavalryman as a serious contender for the Arc?

Yes, but I don’t think he’ll win tbh. I want to see how he gets on in the Niel and how the form works out.
August 7, 2009 at 01:09 #242870I’m on Fame And Glory @ 12/1. Think he has a good chance.
Vision D’Etat is one of my favourite horses. He was 5th last year and looks to have improved. He should run well again.
Casual Conquest was very dissapointing last time, but I’m sure DKW will have him spot on on Arc day. I think he will run a massive race. I’ll never forget the way he won the Derrinstown, looked like a supertar in the making. Things haven’t gone 100% to plan for him since but the Arc has been his target since the Irish Derby and he will surely go close. Trip and ground should be in his favour.
Couldn’t have Stacelita.
