“For a bit of fun Energumene, GDC, El Fabiolo, State Man for the four-timer.”
One in, three to go. :o)
April 25, 2023 at 17:35 #1645384Cheers Grass, very very happy with that one (though I thought I had the win just for a bit)
April 25, 2023 at 17:48 #1645386The land river bumper 6pm
“We have two nice types in the Goffs Bumper. Jody rides Milo Lises and Patrick has chosen Predators Gold which could be an indication that he might fare best of the two. However, this is a very hot renewal and hopefully they will both run well.”
Looks wide open but the favourite of Gordon Elliott’s has dropped out.
So
Predators Gold gets my dart 🎯April 25, 2023 at 17:50 #1645388Great race; Willie might train them all, but not afraid to let them take each other on
April 25, 2023 at 18:13 #1645390Mullins Just had the first 2 in the bumper too, also got 4 of the 6 running in the next race. What a farce

Win
Gets the vote here.
Totally unexposed and second to impervious, before winning well latest.
Looks a contender for big prizes next year.
Robcour have kept this one sweet.April 25, 2023 at 18:44 #1645395Well done with the bumper winner Sam.
Feronily jumped beautifully there. I thought he might be the next National plot but he’s well and truly blown his coverApril 25, 2023 at 18:58 #1645397I’ll try Jet Fighter ew in the next, in the hopes that his no show on his first try over the banks was an anomaly.
April 25, 2023 at 19:04 #1645400Should really call it for the day, but went with Lessaidthebetter 40’s EW. 35’s when I posted, so not a good sign

Bumper 7.45
“Ninth Loch (Patrick) makes his debut in the bumper. He is not really bred to be a bumper horse but he does things very nicely at home. However, the rain softened ground might inconvenience him.”
Dollar no limit
Each way
Ninth loch
Small winApril 25, 2023 at 22:16 #1645429WD winners! And a nice EW-shot with Chacun VtC!
Affordably Fury for me in the 3m novice hurdle. Should have had enough time to recover after Cheltenham. Gaellic Warrior is a very short price for someone who has to stay over this distance. A small bet on Hewick to finish in the first 3 in the Gold Cup. And finally Andy Dufresne in the 2m5f handicap. Dropped in the weights and must a shot here.
Affordably Fury 11/2
Hewick 16/1 EW (3 places)
Andy Dufresne 10/1April 25, 2023 at 22:41 #1645430BMG at 4/1 seems a decent bet; well beaten at C’ham, and had a more trouble-free passage, but is a more fluent fencer than GDC, and a mistake or two might even things up. GDC does seem a monster tho
April 26, 2023 at 00:46 #1645434Thanks DBR
The opener on Day Two is insane, and I’m going to pick one and stick with it. Teescomponentsyess is 50’s at the moment, and that seems fair on last run, but he’s got a few runs that would give him EW shout.
Three Card Brag is already a bet of mine for NH Chase, but I’ll sit this race out. I’ll have a small interest in Tag Man in the 1645.
I was happy with the 16’s, 3 places for Hewick Antepost, so the 33’s is ominous. I still took it though. If he goes 40’s, I’ll take that too.
I thought Western Diego was a real eyecatching runner in The Cheltenham Bumper. He’s a horse I’ll be following closely next season, so as well backing him just now at 9’s
Last but not least is Ilikedwayurthinkin. I honestly think he can win one of the bigger handicaps, and can’t desert him here.
Punchestown
1540 Teescomponentsyess 50’s EW 7pls
1645 Tag Man 5’s
1755 Hewick 16’s EW 3pls/33’s

Bravemansgame and Andy Dufrene , sticking with the stat of taking GC winners on , hope it’s a great race
April 26, 2023 at 09:06 #16454412 bets in the first two races:
3.40 Level Neverending
4.15 Nucky JohnsonBest of luck to all today
April 26, 2023 at 09:42 #1645444520 – Affordale Fury worth an e/w pop at 6/1 off the back of an impressive run at Cheltenham. Might not back it up/Gaelic Warrior could just be too good but taking him on…..sort of.
630 – Interesting runner here in Rath Gaul Boy. Last run was comfortably beaten by A Dream To Share last year but gets a whopping 20lbs turnaround here and no doubt Willie can have him ready for this. 11/1.
705 – Wasn’t keen on Ha’Dor at the price so I’ve put a few quid on last years winner Royal Rendezvous. Also some shillings on Andy Dufresne, who likes it here and is fairly unexposed at the trip, although might just not want it. Get busy living or get busy betting.
745 – Again, another Mullins shortie I’m willing to avoid in Fun Fun Fun, who ran no race at the festival. Might get back on track in shallower waters but Junta Marvel impressed me last time out, I think the form is half decent so here we go. 10/3
Enjoy!
April 26, 2023 at 13:53 #1645464For me BMG had the far harder race in the Gold Cup – that last 100yds or so he was absolutely walking……I said it was a blessing that he wasn’t able to run at Aintree and I am not sure that they shouldn’t have just called stumps after the Gold Cup and given him time to get over that race and come back fresh for the Charlie Hall next season.
GDC will likely have to underperform significantly or try and take more of the fences with him then Energumene did yesterday……his style of juping looks a little ungainly at times but the way he came back on the bridle after belting the 3rd last at Cheltenham was deeply impressive and he was just as slick over the last two as BMG was, he is the quickest horse in the field and clearly outstayed BMG in the Gold Cup so I am not sure what tactic BMG could employ this time round that would reverse placings….other than hoping he has a big enough off day.
Envoi Allen’s 1.75L win against Kemboy over 3m is a long way off being good enough and the way he pulled hard early on in the Ryanair will not help him going back up to 3m.
Fastorslow’s nk 2nd to the National winner at Cheltenham reads well but that was a handicap and he has 21L to find on GDC from the John Durkan.
Fury Road’s 8L 3rd to GDC in the Irish Gold Cup reads well but GDC was ridden more to prove he got 3m and will likely sit closer to the pace. Fury Road was put in his place behind Envoi Allen in the Ryanair and fell in the National so that tells me his form has regressed since.
GDC’s race to lose but as we saw yesterday what is clear on paper doesn’t always play out the same way come race time.
