    Kicks off next week

Although not a fan of the Meetings Threads in Big Races sections, it definitely works very well for Punchestown, and probably best just keep it here, for all it nearly went in Daily Lays and Plays with the others.

No too many jumping out in The Championship Races, but assuming that they won’t ask Sire Du Berlais to run again, I’d like Asterion Forlonges in The Stayers, while, I’d be very interested in Sharjah for The Champion Hurdle

As usual, I’ll give the handicaps a good look.

That Handicap Hurdle on the Saturday is always a mental race, and looks no exception this year……

My two favourite races of the week are the two big chases on The Saturday, including The Pat Taaffe. Entries not out yet, but hoping to not see Regal Encore in there, but I’ve a feeling they’ll consider it.

Very decent handicap on Day Two……

I’ll definitely bet Ilikedwayurthinkin and/or Call Me Lyreen if they went here, but with the likes of Battleoverdoyen and Ramillies in there, perhaps best to wait, even if it gets priced up early

First bet for me is Hewick in The Gold Cup. Always liked this horse, and his wins at Sandown and Galway last year without a penny on him, left me calling myself a few names.

I’d probably back him at Sandown if he went, but they seem keen here, not that I’d ever take anything as gospel when it comes to this.

Thought the 16’s enough to coax me into an early bet, and three places was the clincher. Good few of these could be doubtful, and if he was sent here, then I could see him being significantly shorter

I’m lucky enough to be going Tuesday to Thursday, work permitting, and there are going to be some nice types on show as usual.

I’m particularly looking forward to Impaire Et Passé, Energumene and Galopin Des Champs

I haven’t looked at the cards in too much depth, but in the opener I would definitely hope for Saylavee to be generous odds

Hope you bag a few Autumnal

Second bet for me is on the face of it, a daft one. Went with Chacun Pour Soi in The Champion Chase. A season to forget, swept aside a few times, and age obviously catching up with him.

However, he’s back here over the minimum trip, after mucking up about over longer trips, and he ran a sound race in this last year. Not suggesting he can beat Energumene, but he can beat the rest of them, if they can get him right for one last big run.

Not fully convinced he’ll be declared, but not too long back he was top drawer, he’s with the best trainer in the business, and at the price, I’m going with it.

I doubt that I would bet Teahupoo next week as he’s not my kind of price really, but he’s the horse I’m most looking forward to seeing. I hope that the weather is kind for him

What a great hours racing on the Wednesday
Gaelic Warrior destroying the opposition over 3 miles
A small but select Gold Cup field and a stellar bumper race

Good luck if you’re betting Gaelic Warrior Nathan

I think he’ll win easily, but maybe just a shade skinny for me

I love Punchestown, but that doesn’t really translate to my betting, and I usually lose.

I’ll have a few bets on for sure

I’m still ploughing through Tuesday and Wednesday, but the race that really interests me tomorrow is The Dooley Group Chase. Journey With Me is the fav, but I really do like Appreciate It at 4-1, and I think that he will fight it out with stablemate Sir Gerhard, and James Du Berlais.

At this stage, I’m definitely preferring Appreciate It

Took the 16’s with Bet365 for James Du Berlais tomorrow.

Lots to find, but the type just to bounce back I think.

Two bets for me tomorrow. I think Diverge ran a good race in the Supreme. That was his first ‘big race’. If he can improve again he might surprise. Also think Appreciate It was quite unlucky at Fairyhouse and might benefit from stepping up in trip again.

    Diverge 7/2
    Appreciate It 9/2

    4.50: Tekao
    6.35: Journey With Me

Good to see Journey With Me finally being allowed to run over the 3 miles he needs. Sir Gerhard looked like a non stayer last time.

I might chance Tekao in the 4.50. A short priced favourite in the Boodles but done no favours by the false starts. He must be better than that.

Watch The Weather was unlucky in a Grade B handicap at Down Royal
in November, another stride and he had it won. Looked like he needed
a break when 11th in a Grade A handicap in December. Back out last
month and not given a hard time of it in 9th, but hopefully that
should put him straight for this. Hes 1lb out of the handicap, but
with Rachael Blackmore back on that makes up for it and more.
If back to his November form, and only 2lb up from that, I’d
give him a good shout today

Tuesday 4.50 Watch The Weather 33/1 6 places Paddy Power.
