Not a massive fan of the one thread approach for a Big Meeting, but I think it works perfectly for Punchestown.
Some serious races in prospect, and though I’ll be drawn to the handicaps, the Graded Events look outstanding.
In the Graded Races, really looking forward to the likes of…..
Allaho
Cape Gentleman
Janidil
Stattler
Thedevilscoachman
The Storyteller….but plenty of others to look forward to.
One horse I’d love to see make the journey, is Regal Encore, and I’d love to see him have one last crack at that big Saturday Handicap.
Should be some week.

Highlight of the week, and a decent looking race in prospect….

Good to see Nicholls giving it a go with Clan Des Obeaux, and certainly adds to the race.
As per, I’m drawn in by The Storyteller, and I’m very interested in him here EW. The entry for The Champion Stayers Hurdle is a big distraction though.
No money down yet, but I’m close to it.
The Storyteller 20’s
April 23, 2021 at 00:39 #1537562No bets yet
But my early fancies are
Kemboy
Farouk dalene
Blue sari if he runsApril 23, 2021 at 01:39 #1537564Two mouthwatering clashes I’m looking forward to in particular: Monkfish v Envoi Allen on Tuesday and then Sir Gerhard v Kilcruit II on Wednesday.
Rumble by the Morell?
April 23, 2021 at 16:25 #1537608Mouthwatering sums it up nicely Gladiateur.
The entries look significantly stronger this year, and there looks to be some very good racing in store.
I’ll hopefully get a few on, but it will be tough.
April 24, 2021 at 15:18 #1537770I’m another looking forward to this, there are some serious clashes in prospect here
April 24, 2021 at 19:28 #1537866Decided to bet The Storyteller for The Gold Cup. Every chance he’ll go for The Stayers, but if that’s the case, I’ll just jump ship, but I had to take a chance with 20’s.
If he did go for The Stayers, I’m hoping to be double handed with Heaven Help Us. There might just be more to come, and the 33’s with Coral looked a standout.
In The Ryanair Novice Chase, it’ll be tough for him against some of these, but I thought 10’s was fair for Janidil off the back of his last run.
Gold Cup – The Storyteller 20’s
Stayers – Heaven Help us 33’s EW
Ryanair Novice – Janidil 10’sApril 25, 2021 at 17:57 #1537936Handicaps are fiendishly difficult, 25 runners in each of two on Tuesday but in the 4.50 Killashee Hotel Handicap Hurdle I quite like the look of Champagne Gold 16/1. Held in midfield in the County Hurdle but that looks the best handicap hurdle of the season in the British Isles, and form has been franked by first and third since. This one is lightly raced and was rapidly progressive before that so I’ll keep the faith here.
April 25, 2021 at 19:22 #1537945Gentleman de mee dropped back to 2 miles was the one who caught my eye
Raced too keenly in the Martin pipe and jumped a bit to his right at times
So 2 miles round punchestown should be perfect
7/1-8/1 looks fair too
April 25, 2021 at 19:37 #1537951FF
I’ve got Gentleman De Mee rated fifth best and in a tight contest that does put him right in the argument. As you say, certainly better than Cheltenham form as with Champagne Gold.April 25, 2021 at 19:43 #1537954Been a v dry April, so might see quite a few non-runners
April 26, 2021 at 00:55 #1537986It’s a bit of a tired cliche but i think it rings true here: If Vanillier were trained by WPM he’d be odds on in the 3m novice hurdle wouldn’t he? There looks to be no fluke about his Albert Bartlett win. 10/3 looks very fair to me.

Gentleman de mee 8/1 5 places
5:25
Nube Negra 5/1
Gold cup
Kemboy 6/1
my bets so far
April 26, 2021 at 10:52 #1538003Has it ever happened before that all the runners in a Grade 1 chase were previous winners of a grade 1 chase?
April 26, 2021 at 18:04 #1538036I’m really looking forward to this, a big week in store. I don’t think that it’s going to be easy though.
My Tuesday picks;
1540, Light Brigade 7-1
1650, Golden Jewel 33-1 ew 6plc
1650, Cayd Boy 20-1
1725, Nube Negra 11-2
1755, Hume Street 40-1 ew 5plc
1830, Colreevy 8-1April 26, 2021 at 18:08 #1538038befair
Over the weekend I watered the garden and put away winter clothes. Predictably this afternoon it is ‘pishing doon’ as the local vernacular would have it! Lack of rain problem solved in Scotland at least, and presumably in Ireland.

April 26, 2021 at 20:30 #153806916:15 Dewcup 40/1 EW
16:50 Jazzaway 12/1 EWChacun Pour Soi & Envoi Allen double at 4/1.
I think Chacun was below par at Cheltenham and Envoi Allen will be fresher then Monkfish. In the big handicap Jazzaway got nice form tied in with Mrs Milner and Dewcup might surprise in good ground at a big price.
