Aphardy,
Not trying to put you off Sky Hall, but Meade’s stable is not in great form. I like Final Straw, he has some really tidy form, Davy Russell booked, could go well at an eway price. The 3m novice chase looks very interesting, I think China Rock will appreciate better ground, I think he has a great chance to win a grade 1.

April 19, 2010 at 22:20 #291260Could the drying ground make the participation of Joncol doubtful? It would be a real shame to see him miss another big engagement, but seem to remember connections stating previously they won’t run him on the wrong ground?

I’d say it’s genuine good ground. There’s a good covering of grass on the sections they haven’t raced on yet this year. I’d have no reservations about running a horse on it unless it was a mudlark. They’ll water to maintain it the way it is anyway. Rain due on Thursday.
Thanks for this info. Would be good to know if it does rain. The well turned out fillies – are they wearing skirts?
I’ll only be having the odd speculation and am looking at Twist Magic for today. See Paddypower going 1/4 odds a place. Waitng for a better price than 11/4.
April 20, 2010 at 08:34 #291289Thought I’d put forward a dark horse for today.
The stallion, Shantou, has had only four runners under NH rules and the best of these thus far is De Valira, who has really flown the flag for him.
Both Willie Mullins and Noel Meade have Shantou geldings running for them in the bumper at 5:30 and I am hoping rather than expecting both to run very decent races on ground that suits this progeny. My preference is for Noel Meade’s charge DYLAN ROSS.

Apologies, it was late when I posted that last night, I meant First Trim in the handicap hurdle!

April 20, 2010 at 09:04 #291293I quite fancy
Loosen My Load
to upset the apple cart in the Champion Novices and ground that should suit although General Miller is a fine horse.
Also like
Kalahari King
to atone for Aintree on a course he’s won on and ground he should relish.
In the last i fancy
Jet Master
and
Miss Salinger
for two yards that have done well in this race (Kiely and Harrington).
April 20, 2010 at 09:40 #291300im going to take the risk and put hurricane fly in.
kalahari king
denman
karabak
hurricane fly50p yankee, job done. any winnings will go on Presvis in his next race.
PS. How do i post a comment on this forum without having to post a reply to someone elses comment instead?
April 20, 2010 at 10:57 #291308Not often we send a horse from Wales with a winning chance at Punchestown but Rebecca Curtis`s in the first bumper 5.30, Scoter Fontaine will go very close .
For the remainder fancy,Loosen my Load,4.20,Tarkari 4.55,Sizing Europe ( nap )6.05,Jet Master 7.15. Only wish we could fly over.April 20, 2010 at 11:48 #291314I’m very dissapointed not to see Quotica De Poyans (my banker of the meeting) amongst tommorow’s declarations, I’ll reduced my intended Candadian to a yankee (selections in earlier post).
My meeting banker is now For Bill on Saturday
I’m off into to town this afternoon to spread the bet around a few shops
I was very temped to replace Quotica with Arabella Boy but I don’t like altering a bet once I’m 100% happy with what I had originally had in mind. A nice ew single on Enda’s hurdler will surfice.Other ew possibles today are …..
Loosen My Load with reservations about the distance, I expected him to have stepped up to 2m4f or similar by now.Mary Spring Rice with severe reservations about the 7lbs claimer who wasn’t able to settle the mare in either of her first two races and lost the irons on her debut
April 20, 2010 at 11:50 #291316CS,
I suspect that the race will be set at a good gallop, Some Slam should make it a searching 2m, I think Loosen My Load will be in the shake up.

Dunguib
will put his poor run in the Suprmeme miles behind him and win the Champion Hurdle in a common a canter.
Sizing Europe
will find this easier than Cheltenham if he hasn’t gone over the top should win comfortably.
Zarito
is a class horse and is a knocking bet at around 3/1. He does jump well enough but three falls would worry most. 2 of those were silly novicey mistakes and hopefully he’ll have learned a bit and put in a clear round.
Denman
was would up for the Hennesyy before racing at Cheltenham half fit…he proved his doubters wrong by running an absolute cracker in the Cold Cup. Do he’s had a fairly easy seaon and Ican een no reason not to get steamed in……..look a knocking bet at odds against.
April 20, 2010 at 17:12 #291349Good old Twist Magic, not covered himself in glory the last 2 occasions he has been out has he.
April 20, 2010 at 17:40 #291353Sizing Europe – over the top or as good as he is? Raced freely, jumped sketchily and waved a white flag when challenged – and that was on a course he likes with Twist Magic out the way. Seemed almost as if Scots Irish softened him up. Very disappointing performance.
April 20, 2010 at 18:42 #291356Judging by the results of today’s races it would seem the ground is definitely on the slow side of good, it seems to be quite dead. Not sure how much the ground will dry up overnight but it doesn’t seem to be favouring genuinely good ground horses.

April 20, 2010 at 18:47 #291359Quite an informative race, I think.
SE seemed to run his race, as did the ever-consistent Forpady.
Kalahari deffo needs further now. He would have been third but for a blunder towards the end of the race – bu that is just another reason as to why he requires a longer trip.
Will the real Captain Ce bee stand up?

April 20, 2010 at 19:07 #291364Joncol will win tomorrow
April 20, 2010 at 19:17 #291367He has a good chance on that ground, its more like good to yielding ground rather than good. Might even bring Tranquil Sea into the equation!
