Mick Easterby and family are potentially going to set up a racing club – on similar lines to the British Racing Club and the one that had Balko Des Flos.

Not really usually my cup of tea BUT I would willingly pay £50, or whatever it turns out to be, to have an interest, however small, in one trained by Mick up here in the north (well, south for me but you know what I mean). he’s keen to ascertain the level of interest (I’ve noted mine) so if you are interested please drop them a mail at enquiries@mickeasterby.co.uk Just say you have heard about the potential club and that you would be interested in details onec finalised.

If we had enough of us TRF’ers signed up I am sure we could maybe arrange a get-together at the yard or at the races (covid allowing) one day?

Already got my eye on this. For my money the best website and social media presence of any UK trainer. Not bad for a 90 year old!

Why not send your money to the middle of the Atlantic,

Does he not have enough money already? I thought he owned half of Yorkshire anyway. Why is he doing it?

the one that had Balko Des Flos

Balko des Flos sold for £110k and is still on offer on the race horse club website -“microshares” of 0.02% being available at £80. This makes the whole horse plus training fees etc “worth” £400k. I suppose for that you would have got one of 5000 raffle tickets to the owners and trainers bar at Aintree. If they had let owners in. Which they didn’t.

You can own 0.002% of Potters Corner for £75, which converts to a value of this 11 year old gelding plus training fees of £3.75million (Makes Darren Yates’ purchases of Don Poli and Blaklion look rather shrewd).

The Lir Jet is on the same site at £84 for 0.002%. Maximum 5000 shares. So Qatar racing must own the other 90% and the whole horse is “worth” £4.2 million. Which I suppose he will be, if he starts winning a few grade 1s.

I’m going to wait till Coolmore floats on the stock exchange, buy a couple of shares then lord it over all ye plebs cos I’ll be part owner of Galileo. Except if I turn up at his stable door to give him a pat and a carrot, some Mr Burns type will press a button to release the hounds.

I bought Micks false teeth for £100. I might give him them back and ask for a couple of shares in his best 2yo colt.

Imagine vast sums of money, fast cars, yachts.
I am potentially going to generate buckets of cash beyond your wildest dreams, but you really don’t have to invest in me.

Joking aside, I appreciate that trainers have to diversify and find more income streams. There will be good investments schemes along these lines and some very poor ones.

One thing I know is that getting involved in horse racing for the average person is not an ‘investment’, it’s a way of enjoying burning disposable income. But, if you set aside money you can afford it’s harmless fun.

I’ve enquired as I’d like to see what’s planned but I’ll reserve judgement.

A while back somebody tried to get me involved in the Gordon Elliott Racing club, but their website had too much ‘Pay Here’ and not enough ‘What you get for your money’.

Elliott needs the cash to invest in a bench or two.

Yes, get the comments above. I had zero interest in the other offerings but I have a strong feeling that you’d get value for your £50 from Mick Easterby.
As Rob said, it’s not an investment but an outlay on some entertainment.

Did you really buy the teeth Tatling? I saw he had them up for sale!

Hahaha no Cormack, I read it in the (excellent) article in the RP that he had sold them for £100. “I’m famous, you see!”, he boasted to the interviewer (A. Down?) about it! He’s a proper character, no doubt.

And I agree with you, just a light hearted bit of fun from me. Did not intend to derail a serious thread, apologies. If I had the expendable funds I’d certainly give it a whirl. Alas not.
