Gents,
Am I right in thinking the Prix Niel and the other Arc trials are this coming Sunday 14th Sept?
They’re normally run 3 weeks before the Arc and this Sunday will be 3 weeks before the Arc
September 8, 2008 at 21:41 #180108Yes.
September 8, 2008 at 21:46 #180110Thanks TDK youve just given me something extra to look forward to this weekend
September 9, 2008 at 01:26 #180132It’s a magnificent weekend. I can assure you of that!
September 9, 2008 at 15:04 #180195Now I can’t take the kids to the Zoo or help out at the Breakfast for the Hungry.
September 10, 2008 at 17:34 #180357Does anyone have a link to the entries for the trials on Sunday?
September 10, 2008 at 17:40 #180361Here you go.
Foy looks weak. Prospect Wells probably needs to be backed quite quickly for the Arc, though hard to say whether Fabre will have him ready to win Sunday.
Michita and Ice Queen interesting for the Vermeille.

ZarkavaSeptember 10, 2008 at 20:09 #180375Thanks Salselon. Have taken the 12/1 about Prospect Wells just now- to be honest he needs to win the Niel to win the Arc even if not 100%, I’m betting he can.
September 10, 2008 at 20:52 #180379Fascinating stuff- I had a good cut at him with Paddy Power and they shortened him to 10s. Within minutes Boyles were 10 from 12 too! (can’t bet with them)

September 12, 2008 at 08:43 #180550If anyone wants a look at Prospect wells last race or indeed Dr Freemantle here you go:
September 12, 2008 at 21:00 #180681Prix Niel
2-1 is good on a horse who has specifically targetted the race since the second he won his last, who has never been beaten and is easily the best on all known form going into the race – Vision D’Etat its his race to burn.
Prix vermeille
Zarkava is short enough, but think I’ll have a go e/w on Baila me @ 40-1 and Honoria @ 100-1.
September 12, 2008 at 21:10 #180686I rate Prospect Wells’ second to Montmartre better than Vision’s French Derby win Bully-he showed an amazing turn of foot to pass the whole field bar the winner in the straight. It’ll cost me plenty if Vision beats him on Sunday so I hope you’re wrong!
September 12, 2008 at 21:13 #180687Main thing for me this week is to remeber they are Arc trials. Remember the ‘efforts’ on Hurricane Run and Pride in the Foy that Shirocco won.
September 12, 2008 at 21:30 #180691Im in a similar boat Carvs as have have had vde down as a play for the arc (pre prix Niel) and possible lay after at shorter odds (hopefully) all season. The trainer said in the Prix Jockey Club winners enclosure that VDE would be targetting the Niel since then and I fancy the Niel as a race that should suit VDE (possibly more than the arc itself). My main loss on VDE will be in the Arc, rather than the Niel so hopefully there are no serious casualties from the niel.
I expect the Prix Niel to be quite a bit slower pacewise than the Montmartre race, and overall I would see that as a piece of form more relevant to the Arc than the Niel. Hard to say though as there is still a reasobnably sized field left in for the niel so there could yet be pace.
September 12, 2008 at 21:35 #180693Very good point DJ, may be time to reduce exposure a bit…..
September 13, 2008 at 09:32 #180750I think PROSPECT WELLS was flattered when finishing runner up to MONMATRE, horses that tracked the break neck pace in that race didn`t get home (with the exception of Monmatre),he looked to me as though he was being ridden to get the trip!!
I thought the horse to take out of that race was DOCTOR FREEMANTLE (Has i mentioned on here at the time),he was intent on playing pinball and i think he was given a particular poor ride by Ryan Moore.
PROSPECT WELLS is rated 49.5 by the French h`capper, VISION DÈTAT is rated 55.0, PROSPECT WELLS has won 1 from 6 and that was a close call , VISION is unbeaten, the biggest question for VISION is the trip, will he get it or is he a real 10 Furlong horse.
However,if you are looking to get positive vibes about PROSPECT WELLS chance of winning the arc:
*Stable is really coming into form at the right time!
*The arc field doesn`t look upto standardWith regards to sundays race, i will put my thoughts on the appropriate thread at the right time, however,at this stage i would be more like 2-1 PROSPECT WELLS despite a lack of quality in the race , i would certainly be willing to lay him for the Arc but at 14,0 its not being clever, i assume the price is so short because he`s almost a definate runner, the owners will be keen to take this route unless he runs really poor tommorrow!
