Okay people, time for you to come to the aid of your mate Gerald. Is it reasonable to have a biggish bet on Naaqoos, at 4/1?
Going is Good to Soft, apparently.

b f Mtoto (GB) — Zameyla (IRE) (Cape Cross (IRE))Have just realised what the problem is – I’m too lazy to look at the form of the other horses. Won’t have a bet, but I hope that either Naaqoos or Serious Attitude emerges as a true champion. Varenar looks interesting, with his connections, having come second in the Prix de la Porte Maillot, and he would be the kind of horse that I’d include in a couple gagnant or Trio.
August 9, 2009 at 03:05 #243081i am not sure but i think naqous didnt trained on , maybe i am wrong
this race is for me a lotery bet like a majority of sprint racesAugust 9, 2009 at 03:21 #243082Yes, it is redemption time for Naaqoos, or make-or-break. Excuses are that the Chantilly horses were held up by the bad weather (in the Spring), the Head stable had a low grade virus (not sure who reported that here), and that he ran too freely.
Or as you say, not trained on. There seem to have been a hell of a lot of last season’s 2yos not trained on. Is it always like this, or a bit worse this year? Naaqoos, Proportional, Rainbow View, Crowded House.

Can’t see the drop back in trip being to Naaqoos’ advantage really, he might have pulled a bit stepped up to 1m lto, but he did make all in a fast run 7f in the Criterium as a 2yo, which isn’t the performance you’d expect from an embryonic sprinter, and he’s always looked likely to need at least !m.
King’s Apostle ran much better in the July Cup than his 5th place suggests. After running around a little in the dip, he was coming with a real rattle late on until being knocked sideways by the antics of the winner and, to my eyes, would certainly have caught Main Aim for 2nd, form which ought to be good enough to win this. The extra half furlong won’t do him any harm either.
Might be worth chancing the PMU, rather than the nigggardly 9/2 currently available though.August 9, 2009 at 13:19 #243104Yes, well, I went to edit my profile a few days ago, and put that bit in as I’d never seen that section before, and now I can’t find it to edit it again, so it looks like we’re stuck with it.
August 9, 2009 at 14:26 #243110Gerald, click on ‘view profile’………….scroll right down to the bottom and it’s there somewhere………….I theeeeenk.

August 9, 2009 at 14:29 #243112Aint that often i go for long shots, and we’re probably about to find out why. I’ve went for Dunkerque 40/1 e/w, and Varenar 40/1 e/w. I’d expect both prices to shorten, but what do i know ? I don’t lay anyway.
Small forecast on 1. Naqoos 2. African rose
August 9, 2009 at 14:50 #243116African Rose is my tip to win today
August 9, 2009 at 14:58 #243118Thanks Colin. You were right about clicking on view profile instead of edit profile.
(Near the top, rather than the bottom though.)

For those who’ve not yet yet seen the race.
August 9, 2009 at 21:20 #243180Well done to Reet Hard, and I think Carvills may have bet it as well.
I saw the error of my ways, and did my dough on the 2yos instead.
Having problems seeing the race, but the horse in green finishing fast nearside in 4th or 5th position looks interesting.
August 9, 2009 at 22:06 #243189I think that was the one i backed Gerald, Varenar. It came on really well at a big price aswell. In heindsight i’m kinda thinking it should’ve been a little closer to the front than what it was ? It’s one of these horse where you have to get a result from it first time, because the odds will be alot shorter next time out.
