The formbook and the eye say the French are best this year. Behkabad looks the better of the top French pair, he just looks like he will find a way to win.
Workforce (if he runs) has strange profile to overcome.
He is very inexperienced and excuses have been made for him in half his total runs.
Behkabad to beat Planteur, Sarafina then FaG.

Workforce to me if he runs will win. After the King George Stoute looked disappointed even though Harbinger won and that was because of the way Workforce ran. He is a superstar the form in the Derby means nothing he obliterated the field in a record time. I have got a feeling the horse over did it in the Derby and he’s a great big horse who’s been chucked in at the deep end. He’s only had 4 runs and 3 of them have been really tough races. I also get the impression he isn’t the easiest to train.

I loathe Newmarket hype horses like Workforce. Because 90% of the words written about animals like him have nothing to do with racehorse performance. It’s all about his work and how his trainer and jockey feels. And the mug punters all lap it up. It is completely ludicrous that this hound is anything less than 14/1 for the Arc.

I had a similar opinion about his price for The Derby, if only i’d have been a "mug punter" on that day i’d have been better off! Workforce is the fly in the Arc ointment, if he turns up in the same form as he was on Derby day he would surely go close. Conversely, if he turned up in King George form he’d go close to the wooden spoon. Difficult one to maintain a firm stance on.

Why is he a "hound" just out of interest?

I’m worried about Workforce and have been since the KG. He looks too precious and probably isn’t robust enough to consistently take his racing. I couldn’t back him again. If he runs in one race before he retires he will run without my confidence. If I was to pick a winner at this stage I’d go with Bekhebad. It’s obvious but I haven’t looked keenly at the race all year because it just hasn’t interested me tbh.

I honestly believe Workforce was a mugs bet for the Derby. On what form did he justify being less than 16s that day? I know it looked a poor field but all you had to go on was victory in a 2yo race and a defeat in the Dante. He had probable progression and the identity of his trainer on his side – plus reams of newsprint about his exceptional work. But that’s the sort of profile you see on Classic pretenders all the time – and I suppose even a stopped clock is right twice a day.

I think you answered your own question just before you asked it.

The horse got his chance to form only recently so it is a bit awkward comparing it to dysfunctional clock. However, I do believe he has very little chance to win the race and not because he’s incompetent but because he’s due to compete horses that have beaten him before, like Cape Blanco and Harbinger and other much stronger and experienced horses like Rewilding and Midday the latter being my choice btw. Anyhow, a decision over Workforce’s participation in the race is yet to be made, so we’ll just have to wait and see, but as an inexperienced horse surrounded by giants I have zero faith in him whatsoever.

Workforce got from A to B quicker than any horse that has run in the history of the Derby.

How can you even try to twist that Euro? you’re posts completely baffle me, don’t even know what you’re going on about half the time in this thread sorry.

Just when it looked as if you two were going to kiss and make up 8)

Maybe you should go over to The Arc together, you could both cry into your Pernod when Workforce eventually trails home at the back of the field

Why does everyone hate Workforce so much in this thread. Did they all do their nuts on Jan Vermeer or something. And to reply to the ‘mug punter’ statement. How do you ever get any value bets if you fail to see potential? His Dante run was solid form for his 2nd ever run and was bound to improve with 1) the run 2) a bit in between his chops..

i suspect they were either on the godolphin horse, or fell into the AOB hype. Jan vermeer doesnt stay further than 1m2f imo. but that wasnt all that clear until after his derby flop.

to me, workforce in the derby was probably one of the most obvious winners ive backed in a long long time!!

I certainly don’t hate Workforce…or any other horse… I just believe he’s over rated but not as over rated as your NH namesake :D and as far as I remember I didn’t have a bet in The Derby.
I believe this years 3-Y-Ols are well below standard Shamie Heffernan turned The Derby into a farce with a superb piece of daylight robbery that almost came off, just as he did on Cape Blanco at Leopardstown.
If an Irish or UK 3-Y-Old wins this years Arc I’ll be astonished.
BTW, anyone know when the entries are published?

    I will be astonished if

    Workforce

doesn"t go off Favourite Chelters and astounded if he doesn"t win! Bekhabad and Planteur are 2 quality French horses,i still rate Planteur the better but they are very closely matched, those that think they will get the better of Workforce on Soft ground had better think again he will love a bit of cut! thats one of the things that make this fellow such a good bet is that he isn"t ground dependant! Ole Stoutey is trying his hardest to keep his cards close to his chest,TAPK knows he"s got 3 aces and nobodys got a Royal Flush!
