March 25, 2023 at 16:12 #1641399Equinox 8-1
March 25, 2023 at 16:16 #1641402I’ve had to join you guys on this. Looks top class.
March 25, 2023 at 16:19 #1641406So have I. That was a mightily impressive performance.
Can’t believe he is still as big as 8/1, unless soft ground might be an issue as Nathan suggests.
If O’Brien or Fabre trained him I think he would be half the price.
March 25, 2023 at 16:32 #1641413Can’t have it, the Arc is a very different race and historically it’s likely to be a completely different surface to anything it’s ever encountered.
Bottom line is it’s beat Westover an easy three and a half lengths.
He won’t be the first or last to do that.
Good luck all involved, though – gotta love a forum ante-post gamble.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"March 25, 2023 at 16:50 #1641419I won’t be relying solely on Equinox due to ‘ground unkown’ but happy to have an 8-1 ew ticket ‘in the back pocket’ on a horse who is likely to be nearer 5-2 if he keeps doing that. :o)
March 25, 2023 at 16:56 #1641422Good luck with your bet, Mike.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"March 25, 2023 at 16:56 #1641423According to his record he has never run on anything other than good to firm ground and it would take something extraordinary for it to be close to that at Longchamp in October…..indeed they would probably water before allowing any mention of firm in the ground description.
Thought Westover (considering the state he got himself worked up into before the race and how hard he pulled early on) has run a great race to pull clear for 2nd but it is more a style over substance performance because the form isn’t anything to write home about with the third being beaten in G3 and G2 races and Mostahdaf not seeming to see out the trip but also being at best a G2 horse.
8-1 the winner actually getting to the Arc seems short at this stage….to me anyway.
March 25, 2023 at 17:03 #1641430Would be good if he came over for Ascot.
March 25, 2023 at 17:05 #1641431Japan would bite your hand off for a ARC winner
The going is the big question mark at this stage. looks top class to meBlackbeard to conquer the World
March 25, 2023 at 17:16 #1641437Taken 8/1 as well win only, I figure if he handles the ground he’ll win and he if doesn’t he won’t be in the front 3, worth a chance at the odds given he seems to be able to win either being held up or from the front.
March 25, 2023 at 18:09 #1641443I think he might be more likely to get the ground he’s proven on at Ascot.
That said, the way they water nowadays in the UK, allied with the increasingly-unpredictable weather, I wouldn’t take it for granted.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"March 25, 2023 at 18:28 #1641449By that time Ian we will be told we have a water drought and hosepipe bans, no showers allowed, shared baths with your neighbours and only drink water if necessary..
Why can’t they invent a water catcher somewhere away from trees and grass maybe in one of the concrete city’s, filter it in the summer and fill up the river when its dry.?

March 25, 2023 at 18:28 #1641450As in the king George you mean Ian? I can see them waiting until the end of the year now and targeting the big money races like the Arc and the big ones in Asia
March 25, 2023 at 18:35 #1641451I did mean the King George, Ben.
I’ve caved and taken a bit of the remaining 8/1, but only because I know I’ll never hear the bloody end of it here if it wins the Arc – especially if it sluices through the Paris mud – and it will act as a painkiller!
It’s definitely a decent horse as before the race some were saying it needed to be held up off a suicidal pace.
Evidently not!

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"March 25, 2023 at 18:37 #1641452The Japanese horse that wins the Arc, writes its own legacy in Japan – it is/has become the holly grail to them what with the top class horses they have thrown at it down the years…….maybe if they hadn’t of had some real near misses it might not still hold the reverence to them that it does.
March 25, 2023 at 18:46 #1641455Another thing other than the ground which needs factoring into that 8/1 is we have no idea at this stage of the season who will be the best of or how the classic generation will stack up vs their elders.
