Fair point Bosranic but Bluster beat Planet Five over 6f…
Bluster has not won over 5f in 7 tries since his debut in ’08. Planet Five(furlongs!) Has had one career start over 1000m and won. Interesting.
Still, 33/1 probably over-estimates the difference in their chances
Bluster was actually 2L clear at the furlong pole that day before Planet Five narrowed the margin to a head at the finish.
With the anticipated testing conditions, it will arguably suit a horse with form over six. This will apply to a few of the others, but will they be as effective on the ground? Quite a few of the leading protagonists would prefer quicker conditions.
I’m not saying the horse will win, but you final sentence sums up my opinion perfectly. I think he’s overpriced.
I notice his ‘regular’ pilot is Soumillon. Any idea if he will be in the saddle this Sunday?
October 1, 2010 at 18:27 #320332Sole Power SHOULDN’T be 14/1, so it may be worth a nibble. Hope Zebedee gets supplemented, think he will turn out to be a very special horse!
Didn’t you tip Dar Re Mi and Sariska for the Arc then they were retired?
If so the same has happened with Zebedee, Weird!
Indeed I was Sir. I am a walking jinx!

She’s been supplemented Fist.
3/1 top price the Lady with Bet365 and Powers.
Arctic would be interesting on soft/heavy ground – looked a very smart 2yo under those conditions last summer and is surely no 33/1 shot with give underfoot.
Don’t believe this I came back on to say I was having a bet on Ladey of The Desest and to say I though Artic could shock them all

I really fancied Artic last season when he finished stone last on fast ground in the Middle Park. Whatever happened to Showcasing?
Had an EW bet, The 33/1 is still on offer but my guy couldn’t get 10 shitas ew on it so I had to settle for 22/1.
No 3/1 avaiable about Lady of the Desert but should be easy to get matched at better oddw than 3/1 on the machine with 2 days to go.
October 1, 2010 at 20:40 #320357I’m on Arctic @ 33/1 and Planet Five @ 16/1.
Arctic is best highstreet price 20/1 now.
October 2, 2010 at 15:12 #320479Got War Artist for the race as a course and distance winner, hoping for a big run and he deserves a big prize.
October 2, 2010 at 21:01 #320520Not a great deal of value but given luck in running the winner should come from the two fillies who head the market – slight preference for Swiss Diva.

Lady Of The Desert beat Dalghar very, very easily at Ascot and the drop to five furlongs shouldn’t inconvenience her in the slightest; she travels strongly and has an impressive turn of foot.
I think 3/1 is a tremendous price.
Swiss Diva has been beating the same horses with varying degrees of success, but hasn’t yet faced a horse of Lady Of The Desert’s calibre. She’s good, but probably not good enough.
Arctic remains an interesting contender on his juvenile form, but he has plenty to prove despite conditions appearing to be in his favour.

Agree completely; though she’s not much of a price, she looks head and shoulders above a substandard field. Did have some doubt about the ground, but her dam thrived on soft, and connections paid the supplement knowing full well the conditions she’d face.
Amongst the long shots, Mister Hughie might well make the frame.October 3, 2010 at 10:20 #320611Marchand d’or to win got 20/1 for him to win
October 3, 2010 at 10:33 #320616Abbeye looks short on quality this season.
With luck in running it looks between Lady 3/1 and the Diva 100/30. Better than Evens at combined odds must be the bet.Have backed Swiss Diva and saved on both Lady Of The Desert and Prohibit (28/1).
Value Is EverythingOctober 3, 2010 at 12:00 #320626How the bookmakers must love these end of season races on dodgy ground. Unless you somehow factored in a massive improvement due to the ground the winner was pretty much unpickable. She has won with a degree of comfort. Should she stay in training will she reproduce this run – I doubt it. Lady Of Desert appeared to have every chance but never looked likely to muster enough pace to challenge. Swiss Diva ran a shocker – missed the break and never travelling.
October 3, 2010 at 12:00 #320627It looks on the head on as if Lady of the Desert bumped Arctic…cluching at straws here but if Marchand D’Or gets relegated too….

How about the next? Can Paco Boy upset Goldikova?

I thought Hughes was trying to be too clever, stilvi, choosing to give Gilt Edge Girl a lead rather than follow her through the gap. As it was he had to switch outside and in doing so cost Lady Of The Desert all chance.
October 3, 2010 at 14:54 #320689Hughsie made the percentage decision. Not his fault it didn’t pay off. The draw played it’s part, most of the principles raced near the rail. Winner drawn 1.
