Waldgeist 33s. Yay!!!!
October 6, 2019 at 15:11 #1463963Think the ground found her out – blunted her speed and the winner outstayed her
October 6, 2019 at 15:14 #1463964She didn’t pick up like prev years , got to say the winner was impressive , take enable out and he has won by miles
October 6, 2019 at 15:14 #1463965It wasn’t meant to be. Enable ran a cracker but found one super strong in Waldgeist. I was on the winner at 20s but I didn’t expect this.
Wish he won last year instead as I was on Waldgeist at absolutely outrageous odds.
October 6, 2019 at 15:14 #1463966Waldgeist 33s. Yay!!!!
nice one
October 6, 2019 at 15:16 #1463967They may have gone too fast early.
Waldgeist the last of the six market principles to challenge.
Enable beat those who raced in front of her with ease.Value Is EverythingOctober 6, 2019 at 15:21 #1463968WD Mike and anyone else on Waldgeist. What a good little horse having to switch out round the others on ground that may not have overly suited. A good strong brave finish
October 6, 2019 at 15:22 #1463969I don’t think it would be the most absurd thing to suggest that was right up there with her best performances – possibly her best overall.
The winner was trained to the second and given an outstanding ride by a lad riding out of his skin. Ghaiyyath’s flop notwithstanding, the best horses filled the right positions and the field was strung out in a truly run race. If anything, her reputation is enhanced by today’s effort.
October 6, 2019 at 15:24 #1463970Looked like enable was very tired in the last half a furlong
A shame but waldgeist is a horse I have a soft spot for so not too disappointed
October 6, 2019 at 15:26 #1463971Whatever about going too fast. She definitly went to war before the winner.
I guess looking back now at the King George, he stayed on nicely under a tender enough ride.

October 6, 2019 at 15:33 #1463972Ta all. Dont think I’ll be finding a 33-1 Arc winner again any time soon.
October 6, 2019 at 15:35 #1463973What a very good winner in Waldgeist, and there were no excuses in behind either.
I’ve always had a soft spot for the horse, so I was delighted to see him do it.
October 6, 2019 at 15:37 #1463974Well done to the master Fabre and his 8th winner and anybody who was on. Winner was impressive.
October 6, 2019 at 15:37 #1463975In Japan Waldgeist paid 34 to win. The exacta paid 65-1. I didn’t get either of those but I was on the trio for 25-1.
Fierement finished last. But the Japanese will be back again next year.
October 6, 2019 at 15:40 #1463976She has beaten him every time they have met prior to this race with the only difference today was the softer ground – looking at the time they have gone very fast considering the conditions as they were less than 3 seconds slower than last year’s race, which was on ground officially described as good (which I find hard to believe).
Hopefully, this will be her last race of her career as I think this will have taken a whole lot out of her.
October 6, 2019 at 15:42 #1463977Heartbroken Enable didn’t win, but for me it’s clear it was the ground that beat her. Taking nothing from Waldgeist, he was clearly suited by the very soft going and outstayed her today, but every other time she’s had him behind her. Just hoping now that they keep her in training at six and try again. There aren’t many mares like her who go on to produce horses as good as or better than themselves (Urban Sea excepted) and all John Gosden ever says is how much she loves training, loves her work and loves racing. She might not have got 3 back to back, but I see no reason she couldn’t try again next year – and succeed.
By the way, hi everybody, I’m new to the forums
October 6, 2019 at 15:45 #1463978I think they need to retire her rather than looking at Ascot or America she put everything into that big kick to go clear of the field and Waldgeist has had to switch round Japan and Sottsass and still got there comfortably, in the end Japan and Sottsass are coming back at her at the line she was treading water big time and I’d hate to see her get turned over again before the seasons out, you suspect this would have taken a lot out of her given she’s had pretty easy wins this season bar the King George.
Walgeist is a very good horse at Longchamp always has been and on reflection was a little unlucky last year. I hope and suspect O’Brien keeps Japan in training and goes for this next year I think the best is to come from him and he ran a race full of promise having to come very wide on the home turn, maybe he could do a Dylan Thomas and win the race at 4.
