I think Japan is a bit short at 13/8 for this
If Ghaiyyath is in similar form to that in the Coronation Cup provided that effort didn’t take too much out of him or Barney Roy turn up they could have the quicker gear change to get the favourite beat
Aidan O’Brien is a genius and I’m a bad punter but for me Japan should have run in the Coronation Cup and Anthony Van Dijk in this..

June 9, 2020 at 05:20 #1490234Ghaiyyath surely won’t run here Nath. Be Eclipse for him next as the two runs in 2 weeks won’t suit him at all.
Japan at 13/8 is the bet of the week for me. Think he absolutely b-b-b-BOLTS up!
June 9, 2020 at 09:05 #1490245Hope so MOM
I’m a massive fan of his and backed him a few times for the Arc already
just think he maybe short enough here on seasonal debut over 10f
Big plus if Ghaiyyath goes Eclipse thoughGaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
June 11, 2020 at 14:00 #1490375Is Magical an unlikely runner?
Shes a huge price if lining up. My favourite mare from last season. Only out of the top 2 once out of 9 starts last season (The Arc).
Was only beaten by Enable and Crystal Ocean.
10f her best trip and goes on any surface. Double figure prices seem too good to be true.
June 11, 2020 at 21:04 #1490385Very unlikely I’d say

Unfortunately the Prince of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot is probably going to come a little bit quick for her, so I would imagine the Pretty Polly at the Curragh towards the end of June is where she’ll start off. A mile and a quarter is no problem to her, she’s comfortable over that trip. We won’t rush her and will aim to have her in top order for the autumn. It’s a real pleasure to have a mare as good as her back in training for another year.Twitter: Jackh1092
Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!June 12, 2020 at 01:05 #1490405Thanks for the heads up on magical.
June 14, 2020 at 02:37 #1490620I’d love to take that 16’s for Fox Tal, based on his run in The Champions Stakes, it looks to big, but the entry for The Wolferton gives me a problem.
June 14, 2020 at 11:30 #1490648Addeybb is a massive price for this, declared today, heavy thundery showers possible all next week as well, joint highest rated and Japan would be vulnerable against Addeybb on softish ground you’d think
Addeybb 10/1
June 14, 2020 at 11:39 #1490651Shame only 7 are declared, kind of ruins the e/w angle
If he gets really short I’d be tempted to place lay Japan
I figure he will either win or bomb out due to lack of fitness
He might be 1.25-1.33 to place
June 14, 2020 at 12:20 #1490655Agree that if the rains come that Addeybb’s champion stakes form put him in with a massive chance, shame its not 8 runners or he would be a hell of an each way bet at 9/1.
One horse that I was a massive fan of as a 3 year old is Barney Roy. I am not sure why I had dismissed him for this race so easily.
Just watched his Jebel Hatta win LTO and it was impressive. He totally missed the break and came from near last to first in the straight. To be fair he was probably running against group 3 horses in this group 1 but he absolutely destroyed them from a far from ideal position. Barney Roy is 4/5 since returning to racing and perhaps he does retain his talent.
Japan was very slow to get fit last year and I think O’Brien said he’ll come on for the run. I do like Japan but I’ve seen better even money shots.
Starting to think that perhaps 5/1 is not a bad bet at all.
June 14, 2020 at 12:31 #1490658I’ve just backed Barney Roy 5/1
No pacemaker for Japan, will the pace be strong enough to see him at his best.?
I’m not so sureGaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
June 14, 2020 at 12:51 #1490662Can see him being vulnerable to the speedier horses
Dont think the juddmonte he won was a very good race, crystal ocean clearly wasnt himself after a gruelling king george
The proximity of elarqam and king of comedy would strongly suggest it wasnt up to scratch
June 14, 2020 at 13:35 #1490665Im surprised lord north is running here I thought the shorter distance queen anne would suit him better, maybe they wanted to give him an extra days rest
June 14, 2020 at 13:43 #1490667Japans better at 12f but will likely win, 12f on good or better and he will be a monster.
Addeyb rated 122 (dont believe that personally) run behind magical was by far his best, aus runs are useless to base form on cant see him running 122, again totally and utterly ground dependent, obvious chance in a bog.
Barney roy cant come back to his 2017 form can he? Cant see it,not sure it would be good enough anyway, doesnt have a great record at ascot in recent years for whatever reason
Nothing in behind should figure
Wont be a betting race for me, hope japans win his arc run and sectionals were impressive and could be a right tool this season, this trip is short of his best though so ill watch.
June 14, 2020 at 20:00 #1490690I agree with you Ham with Barney Roy, I love this horse backed him for SJP quite heavily but it’s been nearly 3 years since he’s hit an RPR of 120+ I don’t think he’s got it in him anymore.
Don’t underestimate Addeybb improving with age on ground it’s happened before. Say what we like about Oz racing but he was very impressive over there and he might perform now on good with age possibly . For me he’s the likely one to benefit if Japan is not 100%
June 14, 2020 at 22:59 #1490707Addeyb win or lose, IMO aus form is useless id never base anything on it, his action doesnt change with age and his style is indicative of a soft ground action and the results point there, not saying he cant win this like i said I think its a flawed race bar japan whos running short of his best, wouldnt be surprised if addeyb was a NR on the day though, end of season targets will be his main priority
Cant understand headmans price atall in this
