Note to ‘experts’ on Cheltenham previews on various platforms.

When you talk about a horse for five minutes plus, PLEASE ACTUALLY DO SAY IT’S NAME AT SOME POINT, rather than saying ‘it’ and ‘him’ umpteen times, saying what races it is aimed at etc, but not mentioning what bloody horse you are discussing, as Emmet and Ferguson did on more than one occasion in their Novices Chasers special yesterday.

“His jumping for a novice is exemplary”. I have no idea what horse you are talking about! You are allowed to mention a horse’s name more than once, especially when discussing it for ages.

“He ran well on his season’s opener”. Who did?

Extremely hard to follow the conversation when they barely mention a horse’s name. Then they say it’s price at the end, and you still do not know who they are talking about.

I think they were talking Bravesmansgame, but had to listen to a ten-minute section three times to work it out for myself given a series of clues.

    Drives me mad.

It is a pet hate of mine as well, QF. When someone says something like “That horse of JP’s that ran well the last day.” Just say its name!!

ATR’s preview starts at 21:00. That’s usually worth a watch.

It would be fun if they gave the handicaps a preview instead of the usual races.

I’m especially interested in the handicap results after listening / reading to all of the Irish bleating about being clobbered by the UK handicapper. I suspect they will do ok!
