July 30, 2004 at 12:18 #54180One selection for Friday 30 July 04 – looks a good one!
ROYAL CHALLENGE 4.25 Goodwood
July 31, 2004 at 12:37 #54181No selections this Saturday 31st July 04, so the results for July are as follows:
22 winners out of 62 selections (35%)
Outlay 62 Returns 71 Profit 9 points.
The system has been in profit since day 1. On the 1st July there were 3 losers and a 9/2 winner, Emerald Penang, which runs at Goodwood today.
As the writers of the tipster adverts say, as they tumble through the letter box with increasing regularity…if you had invested £100 on each selection you would have made £900 tax free!
I am considering widening the qualifying prices in August to 2/1 to 5/1 inclusive. Out of interest, I have put 4 selections on the tips page which were just outside the 5/2 to 4/1 range.
July 31, 2004 at 22:22 #54182July 04 had 22/62 winners with 9 points level stakes profit.
Same basic rules for August:
Selections are horses picked by both Newsboy & Bouverie in the Daily Mirror and priced 5/2 to 4/1 (inc) in the betting forecast.
I am going to operate the 1111122233 staking plan with a notional £10 a point.
Sunday 1st August 04
£20 win GOLDEVA 4.35 Chester
August 1, 2004 at 19:15 #54183Good Luck with this Steve.Watching with interest. It seems to produce winners at fairly regular intervals. The only misgiving I have with staking plans is the dreaded "losing run"it makes the loss much worse.
Hope its a good month.

August 2, 2004 at 20:29 #54184Hi Steve, good luck from me also.
Forgive me if this is elsewhere in the thread but have you kept a comparison with level stakes? If you haven’t, no worries, it will be easy enough for me to go back through the thread. Just thought if you had them to hand………….
August 2, 2004 at 20:36 #54186Steve ignore me, I’ve just had a very quick look through the thread (which I should have done BEFORE I posted!) and it appears that the staking plan would have only kicked in twice, so not worth bothering about, forgive the interruption – carry on!
August 3, 2004 at 14:45 #54188Thanks Kersly and Snowman for the encouragement. Basically I’m trying to see if this simple system will make a steady profit.
You’re right Snowman, there was only once out of 60 odd selections in July when the staking plan would have cut in – and ironically, that was an odd on shot, 8/15!
Yesterday there was a loser ( Tonic du Charmil which came 2nd in the 3.30 at Newton Abbot after approaching the second last 7 lengths in front).
There is no selection for Tuesday 3rd Aug 04 so the stats are:
0/2 level stakes -2 staking plan -4
August 3, 2004 at 16:58 #54190Hi Steve,
having given the figures for July, I wonder if you are not being too tough on yourself by letting the staking plan ‘roll over’ to this month. After all you have started the P/L figure again for August but because you had 6 losers there at the end of July, it means you go into Aug with that many less arrows in your quiver. Might it not have been better to start again at 1 stake?
August 4, 2004 at 13:12 #54191You make a very valid point, Snowman. I gave the results for August out of interest. I intend to keep a record of rolling results from 1st July. We’ll see what the results are by the end of August; whether to keep the present staking plan, or restart it every month or go back to level stakes.
Today is an interesting day:
3 selections for Wed 4 Aug 04
CHANTACO 2.40 Brighton
SPY KING 3.30 Newcastle
THREEZEDZZ 8.15 YarmouthOn staking plan – 2pts on Chantaco if it wins revert to 1 point on others; if it loses 3pts on Spy King
If Spy King wins, 1 point on Threezedzz, if Spy King loses 3 points on Threezedzz
August 4, 2004 at 18:20 #54192Nice 9/2 winner Steve, I guess that point about the staking plan is incidental now :)
August 4, 2004 at 19:43 #54193Thanks Snowman – two good 9/2 winners today, Chantaco lost, but SPY KING WON 9/2 and THREEZEDZZ WON 9/2.
At level stakes, since we started on 1st July 04, there have been 24 winners out of 67 (36%)
Outlay 67 Returns 82 = 15 points profit (22%)
July 22/62 -62 + 71
Aug 2/ 5 – 5 + 11
TOTAL 24/67 -67 + 82
Using the staking plan 11122233
we have 73 points outlay 91.5 return = 18.5 pts profit (25%)
