Interesting renewal. I was looking for an in-form runner
1)Drawn middle-high as I thought the near side was favoured today.
2)Preferably a winner at 6f
3)Proven on soft ground.
I found it hard to fancy many-I came down on the side of Tamagin, and have invested at 14-1. Any opinions?September 11, 2008 at 23:44 #180523I cant get away from Cheveton here.
Middle to high draw, like you suggest, and looks to have the beating of the handicapper again off of 8-13.
Cheveton’s going for a 6th win in a row at 5f, 2 of those wins have come on soft of worse ground. Everytime Cheveton wins the horse seems to come in by less than a length to keep the handicapper at bay and the 8-1 on offer just seems to be too good to miss for an in-form 5f specialist.
Tamagin will place in my opinion and 14-1 is a very good price for what that horse can do.
Strike Up The Band would be the other alternative for me but I’ll stick at Cheveton for an eggs-in-one-basket punt at 8-1
September 12, 2008 at 00:11 #180525Tom’s Laughter for me. A whopping 10lb better off with Cheveton on their Sandown running in June for around three lengths. Stays six, loves the ground and the stable have already had a sprint winner this week and are in blinding form.
Siren’s Gift has the class to win this, is blinkered first time, has Probert on board and is the best longshot.
I’ll be backing these in Euros at the Curragh! Can’t wait!
September 12, 2008 at 18:12 #180634I’ve invested in Northern Fling this evening at a guaranteed 14/1. The high numbers had it again today.
September 12, 2008 at 18:19 #180638Don’t rule out Hoh Hoh Hoh if the ground keeps drying out.
Prefers not to race amongst lots of horses, so sh#te draw may not be such a disadvantage.September 12, 2008 at 18:51 #180653I really fancy Chief Editor for this. Looks really progressive, and am hoping last couple of runs have been ‘preps’ for this. Will be carrying my cash.
September 12, 2008 at 20:24 #180665At the minute I like
River Falcon @ 16-1 and he’ll be a definite with the ground and weights in mind.
but also like
Chief Editor 16-1
Lipocco 20-1
Hamish McGonigal 25-1
will have to look at the prices on those three tomorrow as there is a good chance they could be considerably better.
If Tamagin is at his best then he should be well amongst it but it’s a competetive race and they have him short enough for me to look elsewhere.
September 12, 2008 at 23:38 #180721Give them level weights and lets see whose been fiddling,.
September 13, 2008 at 14:15 #180784Pricewise does it again. Tom Segal tipped Hogmaneigh this morning
I thought for a minute Hamish McGonagall would be well up there but definitely a well deserved and long awaited victory for Hogmaneigh and Mr Golam
September 13, 2008 at 14:17 #180786Could have swore I had that on River Falcon but must hav ebeen caught on the back foot. Curses
September 13, 2008 at 14:22 #180788Was very unlucky Bulwark. Very very close
Ironically i’ve just checked the RP again and Segal tipped the 1-2! What price would you have got on that for an RF!
If he’s really in form today then you’d want to be on Equiano and Look Here for the next two
