I am fully aware of the availability and content of Pornography that is accessable today but i was still shocked this morning when confronted by my apopoleptic wife waving her sons (my step sons) mobile phone.
She is distraught and finds the whole porn thing a bit stomach churning. It was left to me to bring a little decorum to the subject but also to perouse and delve further into the full content that she had stumbled across .
I won’t go into details but it is very hardcore stuff. Though i’ve seen worse. Probably over 30 movies totalling about 100MB. even if he didn’t have it saved on his phone, in a folder cunningly named "PORN" and without password protection i might add
, i know he’d still have access to this sort of stuff through his mates.Does anyone else have experience of dealing with this? Obviously its pretty natural and if i could have gotten my hands on this when growing up i probably would have but whats troubles us is that he is litterally carrying a library of porn around with him, into school, other peoples houses, everywhere he goes. Its not just a playboy mag under the mattress anymore!! He’s not particularly savvy on a computer either as most kids are nowadays, so if yours is this is probably just the tip of the iceberg!
I’ve got no experience (yet) dealing with this sort of issue Roly, but my son’s nearing 9 now. He knows what the "top shelf" is all about – everytime we’re in a newsagents he just stands there looking up at the mags, blushing like crazy – what makes it worse is when he shouts out comments like "oooohh look mum, she’s sticking her bum out" or "hey I can see her boobs!!"

I wouldn’t worry roland. He’s only competeing with the rest of his class in the ‘How much porn can one have on their phone’ stakes. It’s not the content as much as the quantity that wins the race!
If you think it would help the situation then tell your partner of this game he’s playing. He’s not a perve, it’s not dirty and he’s merely hoarding this stuff to impress his peirs at school. You wont stop him from looking at it and probabaly wouldn’t want to either. Tell your partner of this game he’s playing and even liken it to something you did at his age at school (even if you didn’t).
Lastly, his phone is his phone and to root through any sort of file is no better than to read someones diary in this day. Curiosity killed the cat!
Porn is illegal in this country, you should report him to the police and have this potentially dangerous criminal taken off the streets.
Seriously though .. you should just tell him he’s caught and to hide it from his Mam better next time.
When he hits sixteen get a gay friend and a straight friend too sit him down and tell him the facts of life.
Other wise, buy some sort porn videos and a large box of cleanex, that and tell him not too wind his step mother up, tell her too not go prying. The sooner a boy gets the idea of which team he bats for the better, then you can push towards support that will give him a safe grounding.
And for crying out load drill into him too use a comdom.

2. Buy him a memory card for his birthday – 100MB of porn is nowhere near enough.
3. Thank yourself lucky it wasn’t a Playboy mag under the matress. At least mobile phones are wipe-downable. You could have found yourself ‘having’ to go through the mag just to check out what he was into.
4. Be thankful that the biggest concern you have is that he’s watching porn. His mom could have found drugs or weapons.
5. Every kid goes through it and it’s simply more freely accessible now than it was in our day. I had to settle for gathering round mates’ houses watching dandruff porn, i.e. head and shoulders only
. If somebody would have supplied me with the sort of volume and content he appears to have when I was that age (and on a medium I could watch in private) I would have jumped at the chance.It’s perfectly normal mate.

I agree mostly with alot of the stuff you guys say and bar locking our kids up we have little control on how our kids access this material.
There are still certain aspects that trouble me and these points may worry me more were i to have a teenage daughter.1. The medium that porn can be accessed is not just private anymore. Its mobile and our teenagers are taking it with them whilst mixing with much younger children. Is this a problem?
2. Violent and extreme porn becomes illegal in this country at the end of January (damn it!! i hear some of you cry.) And i would say that some of the vids i found on his phone come into this category.
3. I also think that a couple of videos contained girls under the age of 18. Worryingly some of these are from msn webcams and camera phones from girls who in my sons case are friends of a friend of a friend. In one case, after speaking to him, he told me about one vid that has done the rounds where an older lad filmed himself and his girlfriend in the act, they’ve now split so he’s flashed it to his mates. They are both 16 in the vid and everyone has it on their phones thanks to bluetooth.
We’ve spoken at length now, i’m the type of open parent who would’ve thrown him a Playboy mag at this age, so i can’t believe how i’m feeling a bit like Mary Whitehouse!!
I just had to point out the consequences of possessing and circulating these images, because he is so niave that he has no idea what could happen if he shared these images with someone who may report it.who’d be a parent hey!! And this from a son who doesn’t even have internet access in his room like alot do or is even particularly techno savvy, the poor lad!
Okay Roly, I can see you’re concerned about this and the points you make are perfectly valid – and particularly worrying in the case of number 3.
The problem however is; there’s jack anybody can do about it.
I have a 16 yr old daughter and 13 yr old son – as you may know from my drunken poker ramblings – but thankfully they are both responsible enough to the point where I trust their judgement. Although feck knows how with me as their dad.
For all I know they have these sort of images on their phones, obviously with my son being the most likely (although I doubt it) but it does appear nowadays to be a part of modern society – unfortunately – and at the end of the day there are worse things they could be doing.

Agreed wils. After speaking to him although he was pretty peeved at us looking on his phone i not only asked what he would have done in my place, but what things he thought were important in bringing up teenagers.
And like you say we both agreed, worse things happen at sea.
Theres that much of it out there though that a nation of lads are going to expect their first encounter to be some sort of 4 on 1 gangbang, every hole’s a goal, face splattering cumfest (i believe that to be the terminology). And judging by my experience theres going to be some pretty dissaffected youth out there!!

Every person i bet as seen some sort of pornography and aslong as all consenting people are over 18 taking part and no animals or children are involved then everything is ok.
At most work places including mine some people have porn clips on their mobile, one of which had a champagne bottle just being popped then going into a very interesting area of a woman where it got poured on then supped by someone.
Tell you one thing though, these 4 lads must trust each other if they want to watch each other shoot their creamy magma at some tarts face then all jump up and shout "Get in there" or "Result"

Unfortunately not everyone has a gay friend. And even if they do, I think they would probably ruin the friendship if they asked them ‘Hey would you like to come around to my house tomorrow and explain the facts of life to my son?’.
