Both reported as deceased on Facebook (a reliable source).
I don’t know the circumstances of either. Very sad regardless.
January 29, 2014 at 14:29 #466439One of them [Poquelin I think] supposedly jumped out of his field and hurt himself. Beautiful horse. Had such high hopes for Woolcombe Folly in his younger days. What an awful few weeks it’s been
January 29, 2014 at 17:54 #466459This has really saddened me. How did a horse like Poquelin even end up in this situation? I know I’m probably showing my ignorance, but wasn’t he a Stewart horse, with Nicholls? He’s only 11. I really don’t mean to be rude, truly, but I know nothing about the person who is now listed as his trainer.
There’s nothing so far on Nicholls website about Woolcombe Folly.
Does anyone know more about this?
January 29, 2014 at 19:25 #466464Poquelin was ex Nicholls / Stewart, I believe he had gone pointing and had indeed won a race this season. Sad for connections new and old.
January 29, 2014 at 20:38 #466470Devastating news!
RIP Poquelin & Woolcombe FollyJanuary 29, 2014 at 20:40 #466472Poquelin died while doing a routine piece of work.
January 29, 2014 at 20:43 #466473Maybe one of the recent storms freaked Poquelin out? I often think it’s a shame keeping horses in stables most of the time, but they can do some really daft things when they’re outside. If a horse can damage itself it’ll find 1001 ways to do it I’m afraid.
January 30, 2014 at 17:53 #466547Apparently Poquelin had a heart attack when not doing anything really strenuous and Woolcombe Folly had colic and couldn’t be saved.
January 30, 2014 at 20:46 #466563It’s good
to hear that Poqulin didn’t suffer but I hate it more than anything when a horse dies of colic. And now Hanoverian Baron as well. We’ve lost far too many old friends recently.
January 30, 2014 at 23:08 #466576Sad news indeed and so right Moe we are losing all our dear old friends recently RIP Poquelin and Woolcombe Folly
and to Hanovarian Baron also.
I wish that some clever vet/researcher somewhere would find a way to treat this awful colic that shows no mercy.Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...January 31, 2014 at 14:03 #466607Poquelin is in today’s RP.
