I don’t think Pinza’s thread should divert in to a Punk appreciation thread Gord, so won’t come back.
Dunno about that, after all these are 13 pages devoted to a "cheap holiday in other people’s misery"

Drone, you are a Dark horse!
Pinza
looks like Dave Vanian from The Damned so i’m pretty sure he would appreciate this one too!

Sadly, it would seem that Jose 1993 went down with Pinza, and the forum is a lesser place without them.
Judged by the mundanity of recent threads on the main part of the forum, and the concomitant lack of responses, it gets further from intelligent discussion of horse racing, and ever nearer the preserve of the vacant.November 30, 2011 at 01:53 #380267Sadly, it would seem that Jose 1993 went down with Pinza, and the forum is a lesser place without them.

Apologies, OTS, that wasn’t my intention – but losing posters the calibre of the aforementioned does have a deleterious effect on the forum, and it shows.

OTS pulls 2 of the best read threads on here to emphasise that some of us are prepared to discuss/debate/drivel whatever you want to call it reet about our passion, the topic of the whip and its implications on horseracing are quite a topical subject for debate and yet here’s your contribution to it…
DS, Thats what you get when you allow ‘stupid’ posts-someone even more ‘stupid supporting them
As per usual, your contributions on here are an immediate dig at Ginger, thats about your limit. For one who constantly slates the quality of posts on here i never see you lead by example so instead of being a whinger and one who comments with the benefit of Hindsight, try using a bit of Foresight (TAPK’s fav word) and instigate a bit of debate, funnily enough i thought that was what we were here for!

November 30, 2011 at 19:53 #380366May be one reason why some ex-posters don’t come on here anymore, is they’re fed up with certain posters dominating discussions.
I quite liked Pinza, but his manner might have put more members off than on.
I’ve noticed a few of the old crowd posting again in the last couple of weeks.

Ginge, what i like, not ‘quite liked’ about Pinza was the fact he told it as he saw it,he didn’t mince his words,he wasn’t out to win friends,he was passionate about a sport he loved and he could do what most of us cant do and thats use the English language to its full potential,he was a rare breed who could capture our attention with his prose and his threads prove that. Now if you believe the likes of Pinza scare others away then you yourself fall into the same category as those you label.Anyone can put up a thread on here, the views and responses tell you how attractive it is to others so those who think i daren’t say anything because so and so who has 3000 plus posts has said it before me need to think of something else to say instead. Not run away with their tails between their legs.People may love me putting up loser after loser just like they love reading your bloody percentages. So long as they get ‘value’ from reading our posts eh Ginger!

The problem with using the English language to its full potential is that you alienate a large percentage of the readership by doing so. It’s no good using twenty words when three will do for most folk, it gives the impression that if you are incapable of interpreting such flowery prose then you’re simply not worth engaging with. Many a politician past and present have been adept at producing eloquent meanderings which are equal to the square root of bugger all.
Repeating the same mantra in different disguises also becomes a tad boring and predictable and hijacking as we all know is a criminal offence, however once that capability is taken away you do find that the output of opinion does tend to dry up when there is no one to disagree with.
December 1, 2011 at 00:34 #380416Funny, I never thought his threads were paticularly popular from memory. They’d only ever get replies from the same 3 or 4 posters before disappearing off the page. Of the 15 replies, 6 would be his own words. Not to say the threads were of no use to the forum.
I miss the entertainment value, but I’m a selfish **** like that.

Time to mostly do some onlooking and reflecting, I think, with the odd infrequent post until the New Year.
